Work With Us

We have a great opportunity for a full-time Human Resources Coordinator to provide administrative support to our Talent Acquisition and Benefits teams in Washington, DC.  The core responsibilities of this role are to provide front desk reception to AAAS employees regarding HR services, administrative support to the HR department, and serve as the departmental generalist.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field, administrative or office experience, and strong customer service skills.  The successful candidate will be highly organized, a self-starter, and interested in learning about fundamental HR processes.  This position offers a wonderful opportunity to build transferrable administrative skills, as well as, Human Resources knowledge. Essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees, answer questions and/or triage requests to the appropriate HR staff member
  • Provide support to the Benefits team with a variety of tasks including but not limited to assistance with the data entry into the HRIS (ADP Workforce Now), benefits administration-related administrative tasks
  • Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll processing 
  • Provide support to the Talent Acquisition functions, including but not limited to scheduling interviews, posting open positions on internal and external career sites, and assisting in the use of ADP applicant tracking system (ATS)
  • Execute monthly I9 (Employment Verification Form) audits and other records retention procedures
  • Coordinate security badge system for temporary staff and interns
  • Verify and process invoices, sort mail, and coordinate office supply orders
  • Manage and execute a variety of  routine monthly reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Key requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field
  • One to two years of comparable administrative experience; specific HR experience is a plus
  • Strong office software skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (esp. Word, Excel, and Outlook); HRIS knowledge and experience is a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to remain flexible when faced with a diverse task list and strong ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
