Position Summary:  

The Human Resources Director is responsible for leading the HR Team for the Franciscan Medical Group and developing and aligning HR strategies with the business needs and is accountable to business leaders for all HR services. You will serve as trusted advisor and advocate to employees, managers and leaders. You will provide solutions to complex or critical issues involving the workforce of the Franciscan Medical Group.  You will determine HR implications of changing business needs and recommend actions to be taken and lead consulting efforts to achieve outcomes. You set and ensure implementation of high quality standards for HR support to employees, managers and leaders. The Human Resources Director performs all duties in a manner which promotes teamwork and reflects the CHI Franciscan Health mission, values and philosophy and the values of the human resources division.

Your day-to-day essential job functions will expect that you:

  • Act as a strategic partner and advisor to the leaders of the organization
  • Provide leadership, direction and coaching and development for the HR Team under its direction.
  • Coach and counsel Franciscan Medical Group leadership on human resources concerns to manage business, labor and legal risk, while supporting employee engagement and performance management.
  • Serve on teams engaged in the development and updating of policies, procedures, workflows, tools and action plans. Recommend and implement new/revised policies, procedures, guidelines and training materials that is consistent with the values of CHI Franciscan Health and supports the compliance that is applicable with regulatory accreditation requirements. ;
  • Foster an environment of open communication to create a non-discriminatory, safe haven for employees to access all their human resource needs. Facilitates effective conflict resolution, and help to resolve problems through consistent application/enforcement of organization policies and procedures. Maintain an "open door" policy and establishes a presence to promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.  
  • Conduct investigations when employees bring forth complaints of wrong doing. Prepare documentation and recommend position on grievances, complaints and appeals; serve as representative in a variety of appeal or adjudicative forums, when necessary.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration or a related field, plus five years of recent, progressively responsible HR experience working as an employee or labor relations specialist or in applicable management-level capacity that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities and two years in a lead or supervisory position required.  Recent experience in a large physician practice setting or other healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities may be substituted for two years of the degree requirement.


  • PHR or SPHR certification is preferred.
