Job Details

Reporting to the Executive Director and CEO, the Human Resources Director is responsible for providing leadership and executing human resources strategy in support of the organization's mission and strategic plan, specifically in areas of workforce management, performance management, training and skills development and compensation and benefits.  S/he serves as an advisor to the CEO and assists the Senior Management Team on personnel matters.  S/he will supervise the Human Resources Associate.

Essential responsibilities include:  establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the association's strategic plan; formulate and administer personnel policies, procedures and standards as approved by the CEO; work with CEO and Senior Management Team to ensure appropriate workforce and structure to accomplish organization-wide strategic and operational goals; oversee the administration and compliance of NAFSA's policies with federal,state, and local employment laws; primary liaison with corporate attorneys on employee-related matters; oversee the recruiting/hiring process; work with Senior Management to identify, develop and conduct employee-training programs; oversee annual performance appraisal process; supervise the administration of the association's benefits program; strategic orientation and ability to link long-range visions and concepts to daily work; ability to foster learning and development of others.

Requires: Bachelors; 8+years HR management experience preferably in an organization of 50+ people; strong knowledge of HR functions, federal/state legislation on HR issues; compensation and benefits practices; technical proficiency with HRIS and technical systems; ability to analyze, synthesize, formulate and implement decisions; effective interpersonal oral and written communications; ability to foster teamwork, cooperation, consensus and facilitation of open communication.

Preferred:  Masters degree in human resources or related field; SPHR, SHRM-SPC
