Summary:

As a key member of our executive team, the Human Resources Director will manage and drive the day-to-day operations of the HR function. Maintain a strong sense of team that delivers programs and process to support focus on the success of the organization and the spirit of our ESOP.  Sustain and grow our transition to open communication and trust with strong performance management.  The Human Resources Director will partner with management to support all business initiatives and company goals. Responsibilities:

  • Support employee engagement efforts including analyzing trends, metrics to diagnose and drive for continuous improvement
  • Partner with leadership to ensure strong focus on in-house recruitment
  • Serve as the primary point for employee relations issues and ensure a balanced role as both employee advocate and management counsel to protect the interests of the business in accordance with the company’s policies and appropriate governmental laws and regulations
  • Confer with management and employee owners to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and development to support the business goals. Recommend, develop and implement training to meet these goals.
  • Provide compensation consultation and maintain the current compensation strategy in coordination with CFO and Controller
  • Partner with management to identify high performers to understand and evaluate retention techniques and career development opportunities; partner as well on lower performing employees to develop performance improvement or exit strategies
  • Manage and develop an existing HR team
  • Manage and develop performance management and career planning in line with leadership performance goals
  • Act as point of contact with vendor partners including selection support and vendor management
    • Healthcare broker, HRIS vendor, Training vendors
  • Partner with ESOP trustees, ESOP committee and other key management to shape and maintain a company culture that operates with ESOP spirit and supports the achievement of business goals
  • Participates and is an active member of our Safety Committee.

Knowledge/ Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Minimum 10 years of HR experience with a minimum of 5 years in a manager or leadership role
  • Prior experience with Labor Relations and in-depth knowledge of Employment Law
  • Previously supported company leadership with training and development practices
  • Knowledge of the distribution business, industry is a plus
  • ESOP knowledge a plus

  • Ability to identify issues, relationships and underlying causes in a business environment, and develop and implement solutions that are grounded in business, not emotion, while still being empathetic
  • Comfortable with managing conflict and ability to be direct.
  • Superb communications skills demonstrating an ability to share knowledge and information to keep HR team, leaders and others in the know.
  • Must be resilient, adaptable, persuasive, positive, ethical, and possess a can-do attitude
  • Stellar written verbal and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to assess all people and situations.
  • Create an approachable HR environment
  • Ability and desire to travel to all regions – approximately 20%
