Job Details

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Human Resources/ Employment Relations Manager. This role is responsible for performing all aspects of Human Resource Functions in accordance with SMG policies and procedures, as well as to provide support to the Executive Director of Human Resources in the Employee Relations function of the company.


Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with the Executive Director of Human Resources to review and approve all escalated discipline, suspensions and terminations for all employees
  • Provide support and guidance to field Human Resources professionals regarding onsite investigations and all escalated employment relations/ HR  issues
  • Coordinates responses for all company EEOC / HRC charges
  • Gives guidance on SMG's HR policies, procedures, and programs
  • Manages the full cycle recruitment for all Human Resources and Director Level and above positions
  • Provides continual training for all field HR professionals  and SMG management teams
  • Manages the SMG’s Business Conduct Hotline and employee complaints
  • Ensures compliance with SMG Human Resources policies and procedures, legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions
  • Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations concerning employment
  • Maintains and compiles departmental reports weekly, monthly, and as otherwise directed
  • Coordinates company-wide, off-site HR Conference, and onsite HR Onboarding
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned

Education and/or Experience       

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of solid employee relations and/or generalist experience
  • Corporate HR experience a plus
  • Proven track record of filling positions quickly
  • Detailed knowledge of FLSA, HIPAA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, AAP, EEO and related state and federal regulations required
  • Experience responding to EEOC and HRC Claims preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • PHR/SPHR preferred

Skills and Abilities    

  • Requires solid understanding of state and federal laws pertaining to human resource functions
  • Able to thinking critically in challenging situations
  • Clear written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to maintain confidential information

Computer Skills 

  • Should be proficient In Word, Excel and other office programs
  • Experience with ADP Enterprise and/or other HRIS systems desirable

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time
