Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to join the Legrand North America Team in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This person will be responsible for site HR responsibilities in the Rancho Cucamonga, California Distribution Center (DC). This person will be responsible for supporting the DC management and employees in a wide variety of HR activities, including staffing and on boarding, compensation and benefits, employee relations, employee engagement, company events, training and development, health and safety administration (OSHA and Workers’ Comp) policy interpretation and application, compliance of labor laws/regulatory requirements and HR/Payroll System transactions. This position will also work on Division and/or Corporate HR projects as required.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Required Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration 
  • 2+ years of experience as an HR Generalist with progressive HR experience.
  • Bilingual Spanish

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Prior experience working in a distribution center or manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional people skills and be able to interact with employees at all levels, as well as vendors and suppliers, in a professional and straightforward manner.
  • Detail oriented and able to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. 
  • Able to evaluate situations (employee relations issues), identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment.
  • Knowledge of all State and Federal Laws related to profession.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail, HRIS and related HR programs and meeting management software. 
  • Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively. 
  • Experience with Ceridian/Dayforce HRIS is helpful.

Position Attributes:

 Main Activities:

  •  Organization: Individual Contributor competency model
  • Main Interface: Internal – employees at all levels of the organization, business leaders at assigned location and HR leaders from across Legrand.  External – Legrand Talent Acquisition Team (RPO), temporary agencies, auditors, representatives from federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Budget: Provides input for development of overall Data Communications HR budget, manages actual expenditures to budget throughout the fiscal year.
  • Main Job Duties:
    • As part of the Legrand HR team, ensures compliance with established policies and procedures and communicates to site employees accordingly. Oversees all areas of human resources within the facility to assure that all federal, state, and local regulations are complied with.
    • Maintains positive employee relations with the workforce; counsels, mentors, and problem solves with supervisors and associates on matters of discipline, motivation, compensation, development, or other factors affecting success on the job; responds to employee requests for information on benefits, policies, or employment matters.
    • Recruits, screens and refers internal and external candidates for production and temporary positions as required.  Actively collaborates with Legrand Talent Acquisition Team to fill open professional and support positions.  Follows established hiring procedures to ensure that the successful candidate is selected and properly assimilated into Legrand.   
    • Coordinates the orientation and assimilation of new and reassigned employees, including review of employee handbook/policies, overview of processes and procedures, introduction to physical location/layout, health and safety, emergency evacuation and related procedures.
    • Works with department managers and supervisors to ensure that health and safety programs are in place and that required OSHA training is being conducted and tracked as required.  Actively participates on site Safety Committee.
    • Manages the performance review process for the assigned location(s).  Monitors review activity to ensure that each step in the annual performance cycle is being completed on a timely basis.  Coaches managers and supervisors on conducting meaningful goal setting, development and performance feedback discussions, assists with crafting a clear and defensible message to employees with performance related issues. 
    • Leads/manages a variety of activities to support HR initiatives and employee relations/morale programs.  This includes organizing and implementing employee events and meetings, employee wellness programs and other company sponsored activities.
    • Ensures job descriptions are current and up-to-date.  Works with Legrand North America HR as required to update and/or re-evaluate jobs as needed.  Ensures compliance with FLSA guidelines in the classification of exempt and non-exempt employees.
    • Ensures the documentation and maintenance of all employee personnel records.
    • Participates in other project work such as Corporate HR Goal initiatives.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
