Human Resource Generalist
Full Time, Exempt

Position Summary
The Human Resource Generalist works in partnership with the Executive Director of Human Resources and other HR/Payroll team members to serve as a principal employee consultant for clients at the college, carrying out a wide range of employment life cycle functions including classification, compensation, benefits, recruitment, family medical leave and reasonable accommodation by actively engaging and working collaboratively with academic and administrative employees.

Under minimal direction, this position independently performs professional level Human Resource assignments which require the application of independent judgment in the analysis of routine and complex human resource work within established standards. Work will include 1) effectively managing benefits functions and interrelated processes to assure accurate and appropriate benefits coverage and services for all eligible permanent, contracted and hourly employees; 2) effectively process compensation and contracts to assure accurate and timely pay to all permanent, contracted and hourly employees; and 3) effectively manage the recruitment, screening, and selection process ensuring fair and consistent application of appropriate laws, policies, and regulations while supporting college efforts towards diversity/pluralism on campus

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational behavioral sciences or related field AND one year of professional human resource experience (or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible HR experience.)
Must be knowledgeable about Human Resource office practices and procedures, State and Federal rules and laws and provisions of negotiated agreements

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in human resources, organizational behavioral sciences or related field
Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR Certification), or Society for Human Resource Management certification (SHRM CP/SCP)
Human Resource experience in a higher education or government setting using a wide variety of employment rules, regulations and processes that require application of specialized human resource knowledge and skill.
Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
Experience working in a unionized environment
Demonstrated commitment to pluralism and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational institution
