Job Details

We are seeking a proven, Human Resource Generalist who has effectively partnered with an organization's businesses to support their HR needs. A person with industrial experience is desired to join our dedicated team.

You will report directly to HR Manager in the corporate office . Your focus will be handling administration of the day-to-day HR responsibilities for employees in Chicago and multiple locations. The successful candidate will also work with the global HR team to take on projects and implement the HR needs of our corporate and global businesses. This role requires someone who has strong experience in all functions of human resources and who has worked in a generalist role for more than 8 years. This person must be flexible, willing to take on HR project work and meet strict deadlines.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Experience in various HR functions, such as benefits, employee relations, retention, and performance management.

  • Possess thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local employment laws, HR operating procedures and best practices.

  • Handle HR matters requiring high level of confidentiality.

  • Partner with HR manager to effectively deliver HR solutions.

  • Communicate and consult with managers on proper handling of employee relations issues.

  • Focus on retention efforts by collaborating with HR team to plan/organize events.

  • Partner with recruitment on hiring candidates and ensuring their onboarding process goes smoothly.

  • Onboard new employees, handling new hire paperwork, assigning a mentor, establishing new employee in the HR system.

  • Familiarity with and ERP system is beneficial. You will need to demonstrate strong computer skills to complete HR transactions effectively.

  • Assist with employee relations activities (Open Enrollment, Employee wellness Programs, NEO, Training, Health Fair, and other activities).

  • Collaborate with safety manager on worker’s compensation claims;

  • Coordinate all administrative functions and provide general administrative support to HR Manager.

  • Processes vendor billing / billing reconciliation and expense reimbursements as assigned;

  • Update Employee and Benefits manual.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Handle all other HR and administrative duties as assigned.

     

     

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.

  • 8 plus years working as a HR Business Partner/or HR Generalist experience required.

  • Experience in a medium size, industrial organization highly desired.

  • Enjoys being a positive, change champion and has ability to influence.

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office – Excel, Word, Outlook.

  • Proficient level experience with a HRIS or ERP system.

  • Ability to make decisions within your realm of authority.

  • Ability to work with a team with tact and diplomacy, as well as independently.

  • Must maintain a high level of organizational skills and confidentiality.

  • Flexibility, multi-tasking, excellent judgment, attention to detail and follow-through are required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
