GENERAL SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist administers various human resources plans and procedures with a primary focus in talent management and benefit administration.  Talent management responsibilities include recruiting, selection, on-boarding, training, competency assessment, and succession planning.  Benefit administration responsibilities include, assisting employees with enrollment, questions and problem resolution.  This position works with the HR Manager to provide a full service HR function for a group of employees in an operations, engineering, and manufacturing environment. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Recruiting:  Conducts recruitment efforts for all exempt and non-exempt full-time and part-time employees.  Maintains job files and applicant tracking information.  Builds relationships with vendors, schools, professional societies and other feeder institutions to build applicant pools.
  • Selection:  Coordinates candidate selection and hire process.  Screen candidates and coordinates interviews with hiring managers.  Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations (AAP / EEO) concerning employment.  
  • On-Boarding:  Processes new hire paperwork, conducts new-employee orientations and works with department managers to indoctrinate new employees.
  • Benefits Administration:  Performs benefit administration to include communication of benefits information and assisting employees with enrollment, questions and problem resolution.
  • Organizational Development:  Maintains employee training and development information, partners with business or functional leaders to determine job specific training needs.  Design and delivers training materials.  Manages annual performance appraisal process.
  • HR Business Partner: Serves as a contributor to the HR Department and maintains a business partner relationship.  Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.  Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.  Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Employee Communications:    Publishes company newsletter, broadcasts information on internal television monitors, maintains employee Share Point Repository, prepares and distributes employee announcements and organizational changes.
  • Administration:  Maintains employee files, organization charts and headcount reports, employee policy guide, processes employment verifications, ordering business cards and nameplates, and assist with reducing administrative burden of remote employees.
  • Employee Programs:  Assists Ethics Officer with administration of ethics training program, administrator for tuition reimbursement program and facilitates employee surveys and contests.
  • Other Job Functions: 
  • o   Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports company mission, vision, values, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior
  • o   Other duties as assigned
 

Requirements

EDUCATION: 
o   Required: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field and 5 years of work experience in Human Resources, or
  • Master’s Degree in HR with 2 years of Human Resources work experience, or
  • Any similar combination of education and work experience in Human Resources

EXPERIENCE:


o   Required: 

  • 5+ years of work experience in Human Resources with a  Bachelor’s degree, or
  • 2 years of  work experience in Human Resources with a  Master’s Degree, or
  • Any similar combination of education and work experience in Human Resources

o   Preferred: 

  • Continued education beyond degree
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
 
o   Preferred: 
  • PHR or SPHR Certification
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
 
o   Required: 
  • Current knowledge of HR practices and laws
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required
  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Excellent client management and business literacy skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be flexible and available to interact with and develop trust with employees at all levels
  • Be self-directed and motivated
  • Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation
o   Preferred: 
  • Knowledge of Global HR 
  • Knowledge of on-line training program design and delivery
