Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen has an opening for a full time Human Resources Generalist. To be part of our dynamic organization, the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in all aspects of Human Resources and a passion for a job well done. In this visible role, the incumbent will report directly to the Department Manager, Human Resources and have the opportunity to make an impact.

Key Responsibilities




  • Act as a business partner to managers by providing coaching, counseling and support in the areas of employee relations, performance management, policies, procedures, and unemployment compensation.
  • Conduct agency recruitment and job placement activities.
  • Utilize HRIS system, to include maintenance of job codes and benefit-time accrual codes.
  • Produce and distribute HR reports on various topics, including the federal EEO-1 and NJ AA302.
  • Assist with internal investigations.
  • Conduct new employee orientation.
  • Oversee HR support staff.





  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.

  • Experience in employee relations and conducting internal investigations.

  • Broad knowledge and experience across a full spectrum of HR disciplines, including, recruiting, benefits, leaves of absence, compensation, ADA/EEO/AA, and performance management.

  • HRIS knowledge; Sage HRMS experience a plus but not required

  • Team player with strong organizational, interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to be flexible and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.

  • Three+ years relevant human resources experience.

  • Driver’s license in good standing for occasional travel to other office locations in central NJ.
