Human Resources Generalist

Schaumburg, IL

The human resources generalist is responsible for performing HR-Related duties on a professional level, working closely with the HR team in supporting organizational goals. This positions carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, benefits administration, training, onboarding, employment law compliance, safety, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for onboarding new employees, including paperwork, E-Verify, HRIS training, benefits overview, providing guidance to managers for onboarding calendars and activities, etc.

• Administers benefits, including site updates, coordination with carriers, assisting employees to find the correct contacts, providing information and training, and invoice preparation

• Provides superb customer service to managers and employees, supporting employee engagement and strong employee relations, giving guidance and advice on policies, procedures, and relationship building

Maintains HRIS with HR-related employee changes to ensure data integrity and accuracy; prepares reports as requested

• Delivers and assists in the creation of strategic training and development programs

• Participates in departmental and organizational goals through managing assigned projects

• Supports compliance through preparing and maintaining employment records, conducting audits, and keeping abreast of Federal, State, and local legislation

• Advocates for diversity, affirmative action, and inclusion

• Drives safety and wellness initiatives, in coordination with the employee engagement committee, across the organization

• Manages the front desk receptionist at the Schaumburg location, arranging coverage and training, as needed

• Takes proactive initiative to improve functionality, employee relations, departmental goals, etc.

• Other duties and projects, as assigned

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

• 3+ years proven human resources generalist experience

• 2+ years employee relations experience working with a range of employees

• Intermediate or higher technical capabilities in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and HRIS

• Strong sense of professional ethics, discretion, and confidentiality

• Ability to maintain professionalism in high stress situations

• Excellent organization, time management, and follow through

• Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with employees at all levels

• Analytical and problem-solving skills that result in meaningful, clear reports and communication

• Effective communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills, with the ability to create and deliver clear presentations

• Intellectual curiosity, with the desire to learn, develop, and continuously improve and expand knowledge and skills


Special Position Requirements:

• Travel no more than 5% within the U.S. and Canada (Quebec)


Preferences:

• HR certification (PHR/SHRM-CP) strongly preferred

• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or Psychology strongly preferred

• Payroll and/or recruiting experience preferred
