POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering and carrying out responsibilities regarding benefits administration, leave of absence administration, employee relations, performance management and record keeping. The Human Resource Generalist works closely with the Director of Human Resources at a professional level supporting the above-mentioned areas for Washington Gastroenterology and associated divisions.


  • Handles and responds to employee relations and counseling.
  • Interprets and responds to questions regarding the employee handbook and company policies & procedures.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations or the department for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Assists with the development and implementing new policies and procedures.
  • Manages employee benefit processing, including employee benefit education and enrollment, benefit termination and COBRA processing.
  • Administers, processes, and tracks all leave of absence policies in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Performs maintenance of job descriptions for each position.
  • Reports, maintains and monitors all workers compensation case files and follows up as necessary.
  • Works closely with Director of Human Resources on special projects as well as achieving department goals and objectives.
  • Maintains compliance and stays informed with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding employees.
  • Assists department in developing department goals, objectives and processes.
  • Participates in divisional administration meetings and attends other corporate and divisional meetings as needed.
  • Maintains employee and patient rights to privacy. Observes HIPAA guidelines regarding protected health information.
  • Sets a good example for coworkers in all aspects of performance.  Strives to maintain and improve cohesiveness and teamwork throughout the practice.  Models and encourages behavior consistent with WA GI’s Mission Statement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED); Associate or Bachelor degree in Human Resources or related field preferred; 3-5 years of experience working in Human Resources.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
