Tokio Marine HCC – Specialty Group has a position available for a Human Resources Generalist in our Wakefield, MA office. This position will be a key member of the Human Resources department responsible for diverse duties to support multiple locations. Additionally, this position will interact with all levels of employees and management within the Specialty Group, other Tokio Marine branch locations as well as the Tokio Marine HCC corporate office.

 

 

 

This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: policy administration, recruitment/employment, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and employment law compliance.

 

 

 

  • Administer all company HR policies for assigned locations.

  • Prepare and maintain a variety of employment-related documentation.

  • Coordinate absences and timekeeping with corporate Payroll and Benefits departments.

  • Problem-solve and provide cost effective solutions to situations as they occur. Handle general employee relations issues as they arise, with manager input as needed.  

  • Maintain personnel and recruiting files in accordance with Company and legal requirements.

  • Participate in the full-cycle recruiting process for staff-level openings.

  • Responsible for initiating the performance review process, monitor progress, and follow up as needed to ensure review completion; work with managers on performance improvement plans.

  • Assist HR Manager with the completion of all change, new hire, and termination documentation including obtainment of appropriate approvals to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Develop and distribute organizational charts and other reports as requested.

  • Actively participate in various corporate-initiated HR projects.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to employment in all areas of HR.

  • May perform duties such as assisting with special projects, acquisition activity, audit preparation, employee event planning, and other general office/facility management as requested.

 

Requirements

 

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent field of study; SPHR/PHR certification or working towards certification is a plus

     

    Experience

  • Three to five years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist role

  • Familiarity supporting multi-state, branch locations is a plus

     

    Other

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy

  • Must be able to handle changing priorities and frequent interruptions.  The ability to handle multiple tasks, work at a fast pace, remain attentive to details, concentrate amid distractions and work both individually and as part of a team is also required 

  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills

  • Intermediate proficiency and exp. using Microsoft Office package (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)

  • High competency with payroll systems software (PeopleSoft HRIS system highly desirable), database management and other human resource information record keeping systems

  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge in employment law

  • Ability to interact effectively and engage employees at every level in the organization on a daily basis

  • Able to learn and maintain knowledge of company and products

  • Overtime hours may be required to fulfill job responsibilities

  • Some travel to branch locations may be required
