Job Summary  
Provides strategic development and implementation of core Human Resource processes to a designated client group in support of Colonial achieving its business goals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities included represent typical responsibilities for this job and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed.  Management reserves the discretion to assign additional duties and/or to change job requirements.

Business Partner 40%

• Serves as a business partner by identifying bottlenecks, stress points, and other barriers to success and facilitates resolutions. 
• Proactively communicates matters that may have an impact on the HR department to the Director, Human Resources.
• Champions cultural efforts, such as, inclusion, transparency, and accountability.
• Coaches managers and employees regarding effective performance management and conflict resolution. Recommends corrective action steps as necessary.
• Evaluates and recommends changes to training, job design, performance management tools, communication, etc. to address root causes of performance deficiencies.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge in all job-related areas by participating in on-the-job training, attending classes, reviewing related publications and periodicals.
• Facilitates periodic organizational design reviews inclusive of succession and workforce planning efforts and identifies career pathing opportunities.
• Presents relevant HR related topics to the business to increase awareness, promote best practice, and reduce risks.
• Provides training to employees, team leaders, and managers on Human Resources related topics and company provided web tools.   
• Develops processes and systems to streamline administrative functions and allow organizational focus to remain on growing the business. 
• Creates and establishes policies and procedures aligned with legal and regulatory requirements and that drive organizational values into work practices.
• Develops, tracks and presents key measurement reports and data to guide business decisions and priorities. 
• Forecasts the staffing level and skills needed then implements strategies to provide the organization with the required human resources.
• Anticipates the HR implications of changes occurring within the business and develop solutions in advance of such changes.

Talent Acquisition and Management 35%

• Works directly with hiring managers on hiring strategies throughout recruiting and hiring process to ensure high quality hires and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Assists managers in the development of job descriptions and recruiting requisitions on an as-needed basis.
• Manages the scheduling and logistics of all interviews between candidates and hiring managers.to include behavioral-based interviewing methodologies.
• Oversees hiring process, including preparing and extending offers and ensuring successful on boarding.
• Partners with management to develop and effectively communicate valid, relevant and achievable performance expectations.
• Oversees the performance management and employee appraisal process for the client group.
• Partner with management to identify individual development opportunities and ensure follow-through on action plans.

Employee Relations: 25%
• Proactively establishes positive working relationships with client group personnel by traveling to sites and work areas to learn about their roles and responsibilities.
• Manages employee relations issues by partnering with team leaders and supervisors to develop, coach, train, discipline, and separate employees. 
• Develops policies and programs and institutes best practices to increase employee engagement and retention.
• Leads and supports management with policy interpretation and enforcement in a consistent and equitable manner.
• Mediates resolution of employee conflicts and grievances, conducts internal investigations, and recommends a course of action to help supervisors and employees resolve issues. 
• Manages employee separations and represents the company at mediations or court hearings.

Requirements

 

Minimum Required 
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resource management, or equivalent field  

7years of progressive human resources or related work experience required. 
Knowledgeable in key employment life cycle components of human resources (selecting, recruiting, training, rewarding, motivating, managing, redeploying, releasing) 
Knowledgeable of current investigation techniques and able to apply them to conduct internal investigations on employee relations matters. 

Preferred
Advanced degree desirable
Providing HR support in a regulated industry
Providing HR support to both operational and   corporate functions
PHR or SPHR certification desired
