Human Resources Manager:

Brooklyn Law School, located in Brooklyn Heights, is searching for an experienced Human Resources Manager to run its single person HR department. The Human Resources Manager directs and coordinates human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services by performing the following duties:

  • Maintaining employee benefits programs and informing employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management and directing the processing of benefit claims.

  • Preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.

  • Preparing the annual budget of human resources operations.

  • Planning and conducting new employee orientation.

  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and headcount.

  • Recruiting and testing applicants to fill vacant positions. Processing employee background checks.

  • Counseling and disciplining employees. Advising management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.

  • Preparing employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducting exit interviews.

  • Consulting with legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.

  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College and five to seven years Human Resources Manager experience.

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to deal with all levels of management

  • Proficient with Excel and Word.
