Based in Chelsea, Michigan, Sheridan Michigan is focused on meeting all of our customers' print and electronic book publishing needs.

We are currently recruiting for a dynamic leader to lead the Human Resources function for Sheridan Michigan.

We are looking for someone that is positive, approachable and an effective force in dealing with individual people issues or problems that may affect our team. The successful candidate will enhance the Sheridan's ability to achieve its growth and profitability objectives by planning, organizing, and managing all activities of the department including the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer human resources plans and procedures
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance in personnel policies and procedures
  • Maintain policy and procedure handbook
  • Provide open communications to both employees and management
  • Set the proper example and apply company policies as defined in the Personal Policy Handbook
  • Support and implement company safety initiatives
  • Oversee and/or conduct recruitment efforts for all positions
  • Manage, develop, and provide leadership to HR Staff.
  • Implement and annually update compensation program
  • Rewrite job descriptions as necessary;
  • Conduct annual salary surveys;
  • Analyze compensation;
  • Monitor performance evaluation program
  • Revise as necessary
  • Monitor career path program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings as applicable
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Develop and manage training programs for employees
  • Complete other tasks as defined by Management while adhering to Our Purpose and Values Statement



The successful candidate must also demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • A bachelor's degree and seven (7) or more years of Human Resources, including at least two years in HR management
  • SPHR or PHR certification preferred
  • Highly developed problem solving, coaching and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly developed written, verbal communication skills, including presentation and training experience
  • Ability to prepare, deliver and present analytical data using various computer software programs such as MS Office and other specialized software
  • Broad knowledge of accepted employment laws and practices

  • Bachelor's

  • Human Resources: 7 years
