Job Responsibilities

The HR Manager will be responsible for evaluating employee programs, recommending improvements to employee relations policies and making sure that all employee-related policies in each department align with our corporate goals and established regulations. This position has responsibility for a team of Human Resource professionals at the Kenworth Chillicothe plant, and reports to the Plant HR Manager. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the HR Leadership team. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Organizational and Human Resources Effectiveness

  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
  • Drive a continuous improvement philosophy throughout the HR department, utilizing Six Sigma methodology and/or technology where appropriate
  • Lead or participate in global HR initiatives and projects, and effectively utilize PACCAR Global Initiatives at Kenworth Chillicothe

Engagement, Rewards and Retention

  • Develop programs to enhance employee relations and offer employee support to each staff member
  • Using company survey results, determine methods for improving overall employee satisfaction
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, complaints or other issues
  • Identify and support employee recognition programs
  • Partner closely with the Safety and Health team in the areas of behavioral safety, wellness, DOT compliance and workers compensation management to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees

Recruitment and Talent Management

  • Manage Kenworth Chillicothe recruiting and promote PACCAR university relations’ efforts including summer internship program
  • Supervise, coach, and provide challenging developmental opportunities to the Kenworth Chillicothe HR team
  • Provides personal coaching as a confidant to plant management in enhancing their leadership skills
  • Continuously improve all plant recruiting and talent management processes
  • Act as the PACCAR-wide champion for SuccessFactors recruiting

Training and Development

  • Support and promote the development and execution of strategic training and leadership development programs; pilot and design new programs, provide tailored sessions as requested and facilitate compliance / corporate training
  • Ensure focus on positive employee relations / union free training with all managers and employees
  • Support managers and employees with organizational and employee development opportunities 



  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required and Master’s degree preferred
  • Human Resources certification (PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM – CP or SHRM – SCP) a strong plus
  • 4 - 6 years demonstrated leadership and supervising others, preferably a Human Resources team
  • 3 – 5 years’ work experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Results driven; sound judgment; participative leadership style; ability to influence;  a values-based leader; approachable and adaptability to work with employees and managers at all levels of the organization; a team player
  • Excellent communications skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Executive presence, professionalism and ability to represent PACCAR / Kenworth variety of internal and external settings


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required and Master’s degree preferred
  • Human Resources certification (PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM – CP or SHRM – SCP) required or equalexperience in employment law and desire to continue education on ever changing employment laws.
