POSITION SUMMARY

Excellent opportunity for an HR Generalist with operations experience located near Shawnee National Park/Garden of the Gods. This position reports directly to the General Manager.  As a member of the management team, this individual contributor will provide leadership and guidance for management and employees to ensure positive employee relations; compliance of policies, procedures; and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety a Way of Life Personal Leadership Competencies:
  • Ensure that all employees, contractors and visitors are aware of and have acknowledged the health and safety responsibilities specific to their job/position. Periodically assess performance against target for each person and provide feedback and ensure all employees and contractors  understand that the consequences for violating a Life Saving Rule
  • Lead in the development the appropriate Risk Management tools and processes for the work teams in your area of responsibility.  Take action to manage identified risks to an acceptable level before major projects and/or changes to equipment or procedures are implemented.
  • Provide time, knowledge and other resources necessary for personnel to successfully complete their safety and health responsibilities.  Implement and ensure that all employees working under your authority are knowledgeable in Risk Management techniques and following the SLAM process for all work assignments.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as internal consultant for Employee Relations issues, policy interpretation, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Provide site employees with a full range of Human Resources support.
  • Provide active HR leadership in the promotion and reinforcement of a continuous improvement culture.
  • Support all hiring activities for both professional and hourly staffing, including planning, prospecting/recruiting, and candidate assessment.
  • Provide leadership in the preparation for and management of change as the organization adapts to the evolving business environment.
  • Provide employee support and guidance to ensure positive employee relations; resolve issues and implement proactive strategies to remove obstacles to success.
  • Ensure governmental compliance of employment and management practices.
  • Maintain the facilities AA/EEO Programs (AA Plan, Applicant flow logs). Promote diversity and inclusion at the mine.
  • Maintain required documentation.
  • Assist in training and development needs of employees.
  • Provide support to the business leaders for leadership development, performance management, organization development and communications efforts.
  • Assist with community relations management.

Requirements

MINIMUM and PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience required, preferably with exposure to a mine or industrial environment and at least 5 years at a manager’s level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Change management skills.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Solid HR, functional skills.
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Office application and Outlook.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred: PHR or SPHR
