C&S Products Co. Inc., the nation’s leading suet manufacturer for the wild bird industry is seeking a Human Resources Manager for its Fort Dodge, Iowa Facility.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to maintain and enhance the organization's human resources department for a growing family owned manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Human Resources for the entire organization. This includes both transactional and strategic duties. It is essential that this person puts safety first, have strong technical, analytical, and team working skills. 

Responsibilities

  • Understands and promotes our first priority to provide a safe environment for all employees. Supports all Safety initiatives and assists with safety programs 
  • Oversee and direct all hiring, onboarding, performance management and separation processes.
    • Recruit and Onboard staff
    • Oversee annual performance management process 
  • Drives effective talent management practices including employee relations, conflict management, coaching, employee development, and employee engagement
    • Provides advice and counsel to plant leadership, managers, supervisors and staff. Provides direction and guidance on employment policies and procedures
  • Prepare and perform training sessions and activities based on company needs. 
  • Provide oversight and direction on all employee benefits programs and company insurance coverages and policies. Oversee annual benefits enrollment, benefit communications, and billing. 
  • Develop and maintain HR systems to meet management information needs
    • Use HR systems to maintain employee data, provide reports, etc.
    • Develops, streamlines and enhances existing HR processes.
    • Analyzes the financial impacts of HR programs, as well as any proposed company changes.
    • Oversee the maintenance of all personnel files and human resources records 
  • Develops policy, directs and coordinates human resource activities, such as employment, compensation, training, and employee services
  • Maintains and develops relationships with service providers on Temporary Labor, benefit programs, insurance policies, and training 
  • Assist and support payroll administration activities
    • Review timekeeping and payroll reports to verify accuracy and resulting pay implications. Follow-up to ensure accurate and complete records
    • Explain payroll time-entry policies and procedures; research and respond to inquiries from management and employees

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years of Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Solid knowledge of compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated competency in HR Technology – HRIS, Payroll, Timekeeping
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills in the sense of exhibiting confidence and courage, yet listens and is humble.
  • Attention to detail and good judgement
  • Demonstrated expertise coaching managers and employees
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success simultaneously managing multiple projects
  • Extensive experience with full service recruiting cycle
  • Proficient in the use of Windows & Microsoft software programs
  • Clear understanding of how all functions of a plant interact to contribute to the business
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information
  • Balance of business sense, priorities and associate advocacy
  • Emotional maturity and strength, ability to influence, persuade

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years’ HR management experience
  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing or consumer product-focused environment(s)
  • Experience in small-medium size companies
  • SHRM or HRCI Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
  • Knowledge of feed manufacturing industry
