Position Summary:

Accountable to drive effective Human Resources systems, programs, policies, practices and procedures for the Packaging sub-business unit.  Is an active member of the BU management team which is accountable for a positive/proactive work culture to drive the sustained profitable growth of the BU. Is accountable to ensure the BU operates in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local employment legislation and regulations. Provides expert human resources leadership and counsel to the BU management. Reporting into this role will be the HR Generalist for Glasseal in Lakewood, NJ with a dotted line reporting for the HR Manager at SCP in Westerly, RI. This role will work alongside the Human Resource Manager for the Interconnect BU to ensure consistency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs all aspects of human resources including recruiting, selection, career development, compensation, and employee relations for multiple sites:

  • Works with the BU Management and Division HR to establish the annual BU HR Work Plan. The BU HR Work Plan must align with the BU and Division Business Plan
  • Through site HR, is accountable for the performance management systems at all BU locations. Coaches managers in performance management including addressing performance issues, rewarding superior performance, and communicating performance expectations to employees, develop succession plans, and develop employees
  • Takes a leadership role in coordinating the Health & Safety Program assessing needs and assisting Safety Committee to prioritize compliance and OSHA regulatory issues in an organized manner.
  • Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs, working with the Maintenance Manager and Production Management team.
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Investigates accidents and near misses in conjunction with production staff and management. Assists in the development of corrective actions and implementation of controls. Notifies top management of pertinent details.
  • Takes an active role in talent acquisition ensuring we are hiring the best possible candidate for each role in the BU and effectively executes succession plans to ensure the BU maintains bench strength to sustain growth.
  • Leads and participates in a variety of employee relations activities to ensure each BU location maintains a positive work environment. As requested, provides individual employee direction and counseling.
  • Develops and Administers personnel policies advising administrators and supervisors as required; ensuring we are consistent reinforcing company policies across all BU’s.
  • Administers Workers Compensation Program including maintaining required records and reports and transitional work programs (as needed)
  • Works with managers to plan and implement change with a focus on ensuring effective employee communications
  • Keeps abreast of training opportunities and makes recommendations to management; Works with BU site HR and other Managers to drive employee training and development programs.
  • Ensures that all locations have effective on-boarding systems so that every new employee completes all the required new hire documents, is trained in the location safety and quality systems, and truly understands the values and visions which drive all BU location operations.
  • Supports site HR with the various company employee benefit programs to include but not be limited to health and welfare benefits plans, retirement plans and COBRA. Accountable to answer site HR questions, employee questions and provide direction associated with any company employee benefit. Uses the AMETEK Shared Services Center as an important resource.
  • Ensures that each BU location has an effective HR recordkeeping system along with accurate and complete individual employee files, comprehensive training records and that each BU location meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements. Generates monthly and periodic BU HR Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to include but not be limited to headcount, safety data, etc.
  • Participates in compensation, personnel policy and procedure surveys, ensuring that the compensation program aligns with company goals
  • Other Projects (i.e. Safety Audit Corrective Action Team) or tasks (i.e. Backlog Report, Earned Hours Report,) as assigned

 

 

Requirements

Education Preferred:

BS - Human Resources Management, Business Administration with a Human Resources specialization or similar major. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP  or PHR/SPHR certification Preferred and/or an advance HR or Business Degree desired

 

Experience Preferred:

5 - 6 years of meaningful human resources management experience in a manufacturing environment with a progression of increased responsibility. Experience in the development, implementation and improvement of HR policies and procedures, the installation and development of employee training programs and performance management systems. Experience in running multi-site human resource function. Experience with DL wage and salary administration and structures. Experience with HRIS systems, HR recordkeeping and regulatory compliance, employee benefit plans, COBRA administration, employee safety and health administration, OSHA, and worker’s compensation claims. Must have experience in full-cycle recruiting and sourcing; understanding of all selection methods and techniques; and possess proficient use of job boards and other social media to attract talent. The position requires positive employee relations skills and solid verbal and written communication skills. The proven ability to work productively with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization.  Demonstrated skills with PC office applications such as Excel, Word and Power Point are required.
