Job Summary:
Provide full service HR management, coaching and support to the managers and employees in the Cement Operations Group, Rillito Cement Plant.

Duties:
• Work closely with the Plant Manager to implement HR programs and policies at the local level, in a plant that operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
• Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees
• Lead recruiting efforts for hourly positions and collaborate with the Corporate Talent Acquisition Team on salaried postiions, following all Company policies, procedures and practices
• Conduct new hire orientations
• Provide information and interpretation regarding CalPortland policies
• Adhere to all legally mandated federal and state requirements, including reporting
• Oversee local payroll activities
• Provide local training and development resources
• Participate with other HR Managers in providing input for corporate programs
• Manage local HR administrative activities, including logs, reports and postings
• Work closely with the Safety Department, including attending safety meetings
• Maintain excellent relationship with local MRO
• Perform all labor relations activities necessary for promoting a positive relationship with the local union, i.e., Contract adherence and interpretation to managers and employees, timely postings and communication, and participation in the grievance process
• Play an active leadership role in the local community
• Facilitate the retirement - pension and retiree medical application process with the corporate benefits team
• Direct employee activities

Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent

Requirements/Qualifications:
• A minimum of 3 years Human Resource Generalist experience in a union environment (preferably in manufacturing, transportation or related industry)
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Strong understanding of and experience with employment law
• Analytical and measurement oriented
• Ability to develop positive rapport with employees at all levels in the company
• Highly confidential and trustworthy
• Project management
• Strong collaboration and leadership skills
• Public speaking and training skills
• Motivated and energetic
• Must be able to work flexible hours

Preferred:
• Familiarity with SAP ERP system for HR management
• Industry experience
• Union experience
• Spanish speaking

Conditions of Employment:
Successful candidate must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen and background check.  Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
