Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI) has an opportunity for a Human Resources Manager at our solid wood flooring plant in West Plains, MO. The role of the Human Resources Manager is to provide strategic and tactical HR leadership. This is a challenging yet exciting opportunity to direct and lead human resource activities and programs in a non-union environment ensuring alignment of HR initiatives with plant and corporate objectives, building and maintaining effective relationships in the workforce, and partnering with plant management in organization design activities that foster and sustain a positive employee relations culture. The Human Resource Manager reports directly to the Senior HR Manager with a strong dotted line to the Plant Manager and provides leadership to an HR direct report.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner while leading by example
  • Lead an direct plant HR activities to support the achievement of plant performance metrics in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Schedule Adherence, Productivity and Employee Morale
  • Ensure the execution of key plant HR initiatives and processes to drive continuous improvement in the areas of organization effectiveness, staffing, employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits, employment practices and compliance
  • Engage in practical and rational employee relations efforts
  • Lead and direct community relations efforts
  • Lead further development of supervisors and managers HR knowledge base
  • Support organization change efforts and collaborate with plant leadership to ensure successful change management approaches through effective planning and analysis, communication of change initiatives, full and active leadership support and employee involvement
  • Provide counsel and coaching to all employees on a wide range of personnel matters
  • Track and analyze plant HR metrics to determine root cause and develop and execute action plans to address problem areas
  • Mentor and develop your direct report to ensure their ongoing development and functional excellence

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Manage 1 HR Coordinator

 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource, business, or related area
  • At least 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in core HR disciplinary functions and employment law
  • Labor relations and union avoidance experience
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and influence effectively at all levels of the facility

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or other Process Improvement methodologies
  • SAP experience
  • LMS and RMS experience
  • DDI and DiSC certified
  • Prior management experience    

 

About the Location (West Plains, MO)

 

Our West Plains Plant employs approximately 290 people working multiple shifts. The plant manufactures ¾" solid hardwood flooring and is the third largest manufacturer in the area.
