Job Details

This position will lead the development and implementation of strategic Workforce Planning connecting HR Strategy and practices to the lines of business strategy to ensure PSEG has the right people in the right place at the right time and at the right cost.

The position will assist business leaders to answer the following questions: What do we need to move the function forward? Where in the businesses will we place this workforce? When will we need them? What strategy is necessary to acquire the right talent at the right time? And what will it cost PSEG to acquire these resources?

The position will be driving robust analyses and glean insights from the monthly reporting and people plan processes of the businesses, the external markets and communicate these insights to senior leaders to drive action planning.  This person will help to build an analytics culture by communicating the value of analytics to broader HR, and executive communities and partner with HR Analytics and other HR professionals to build a network of analytics tools and capability across the organization.

Specific duties include:

Generate new information and insights about acquiring diverse talent for the company. Provide leadership and lines of business with a disciplined approach to identifying critical roles; align talent priorities with business priorities and help to decide if the businesses should buy, build, or rent talent.  Assist leadership to develop long and short term staffing strategies to attain better results, limiting risk and cost. Determine workforce gaps and help to build and prepare resolutions.

Develop relationships with external organizations, post-secondary/vocational institutions; community organizations and community advocates, schools; political representatives, and other interested parties to identify and develop talent.

Work with LOBs leaders, Director Talent Management, HR Client Relations Directors, State & Gov’t Affairs, Corporate Social Responsibly and the Talent Acquisition team to develop and execute workforce planning initiatives. 

Manage and report status on projects and analysis. Partner with the HRIS team, on interpretation of reporting/analysis, including reporting and analysis on statistical modeling and HR metrics, etc.  Develop and validate workforce intelligence metrics (e.g., turnover percentages, promotion rates, and employee performance and productivity measures). Prepare long term headcount planning and strategic analysis ensuring timely and accurate completion.  Participate in special projects as needed.

Manage and develop the team.

Requirements

Required Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience:  

  • BA/BS degree
  • Minimum of (6-7) years’ experience in workforce development.  Advanced knowledge of workforce planning strategies, including training plans and redeployment strategies.
  • Excellent skills in organizational relational dynamics specifically as it relate to organizational design, workforce relationships; able to decipher issues, underlying concerns and assists in moving towards desired change.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; effectively able to influence, motivate and lead clients at executive level, represents the company flawlessly in interactions with industry leaders, outside organizations and political leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills; Business acumen, analytical competence and change management and leadership skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong project management experience desired.
  • Ability to travel to various locations in the New Jersey and on the east coast. 
  • Available to work flexible hours including evenings as needed.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge.

 

Desired Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience: 

  • Advanced degree (M.S.) in an applied social science or quantitative discipline, such, Behavioral Economics, Mathematics, Workforce Demography, Applied Statistics, or Computer Science, with an emphasis on empirical research.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of business experience in statistical modeling for the purpose of building business solutions.
  • Ability to gain confidence of clients and external organizational leadership at executive level. 
  • Knowledge of the New Jersey & Long Island communities and educational institutions.
