People Operations (Human Resources) Specialist

The People Operations Team is responsible for many Human Resources processes including Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Leaves of Absence, Workers Compensation, Recruiting and Compliance. In support of a high-growth organization, the People Ops team is simultaneously focused on developing and improving these processes as well as ensuring the efficient functioning day-to-day.

The People Operations Specialist will provide support to the team in all areas. Our ideal candidate possesses tremendous multi-tasking and project management skills, with a passion for supporting people and being a vital resource to the team. We want a people-person who’s able to foster connections internally and externally, a leader who understands, lives, and breathes our culture.

Core Job Duties + Responsibilities:

  • Assists employees and management with questions, concerns, or requests regarding benefits.
  • Responds thoughtfully and thoroughly to inquiries to minimize unnecessary follow-up and clarifications.
  • Responds to employment verification requests and unemployment Insurance claims.
  • Audits data in the HRIS system to ensure proper administration of benefits, leave accruals, local taxes, etc.
  • Runs regular reports to support needs of other departments, such as Finance.
  • Manages Workers Compensation claims, including facilitating communication between the insurance carrier and store leaders as well as tracking claim types and red-flagging safety concerns.
  • Manages Leave of Absence process according to sweetgreen’s policies.
  • Administers monthly ACA benefit process.
  • Assists corporate-level recruiting efforts by posting jobs and scheduling interviews.
  • Makes recommendations for process improvement for efficient and accurate workflow and creates and updates process documentation.
  • Manages People Support email in-box.
