Job Details

Primary Purpose of the Job: The Human Resource Specialist supports the HR department by working on various HR functions and projects.



The schedule is flexible. The position is 20 hours a week, hours must be worked between 9:00am - 5:00pm.


Essential Functions:  

  • Orient and help managers to correctly implement and follow HR policies and strategies in regards to talent attraction (recruitment, hiring, on-boarding), talent retention and performance
  • Research, recommend and implement personnel policies and procedures
  • Helps to maintain and update employee handbook as needed
  • Helps to maintain, and fully utilizes the capabilities of the HRIS (ADP Workforce)
  • Develops and creates reports on HR utilization and personnel changes and data analysis
  • Coordinates and manages trainings for school managers on various HR policies and federal/state/local compliance regulations
  • Helps to update and create employee job descriptions and performance evaluation
  • Other duties or HR projects as assigned


Required Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business or Organization Development or equivalent.
  • Five years of progressive experience in Human Resources position.


Desired certification:  

  • PHR, SHRM-CP,  or SHRM SCP certification is desirable


Required Core Competencies:  

  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR policies and laws and ability to implement policies.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and have the ability to write business correspondence
  • Must be proficient in MS Office suite, and be detailed oriented.  
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize and work well under pressure.
