Human Resources Supervisor – Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development and Compensation

The City of Austin Public Works Department is seeking a highly motivated, energetic self-starter to join our dynamic team of Human Resources professionals. The Human Resources Supervisor will be responsible for establishing and guiding program objectives for the Talent Acquisition and Organizational Development Teams.

This position will serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance and support to employees, managers and executives to meet staffing and organizational development needs while ensuring compliance with City of Austin policies, procedures and Municipal Civil Service Rules. The Human Resources Supervisor will also be responsible for leading key compensation initiatives.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to be flexible. A positive, can-do attitude, professional demeanor, and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse groups is a must. The ideal candidate must also be able to maintain strict confidentiality and possess knowledge and skill related to human resource-related concepts, laws, and best practices. Ideally, the selected candidate will possess a balance of analytical, critical, and creative thinking skills.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications for the Human Resources Supervisor are Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in a field related to job, plus five years of related human resource experience, one year of which in a lead or supervisory capacity, however experience may substitute for the education. A Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification are preferred.
