Primary Purpose                                  

Administration of employee benefits, compensation, staffing, training and development, and labor agreement(s). Manages the company’s compliance with collective bargaining agreement(s) and labor and employment laws. Lead the recruitment effort for open positions in a unionized facility.


Duties and Responsibilities

Works collaboratively with designated partners to incorporate Human Resources expertise to support and maximize departmental performance. Provides appropriate advice, feedback and development resources to improve the effectiveness of individuals and teams. Consults with departmental leadership to create a seamless process needed to select and retain appropriate job candidates. Tracks and maintains organizational structure for the site; for example maintains seniority lists, job bid processes, and lines of progression.


Oversight and administration of recruiting and pre-employment processes. Ability to interview and train others to interview effectively. Ability to manage teams during projects or organizational initiatives.


Collaborates with Human Resources team on operational issues to deliver services that ensure a high level of customer impact/satisfaction and contribute to the accomplishment of business goals and objectives.


Applies an understanding of key legal precedents, policies and practices to protect the interests of the organization and individual employees. Participates in the accurate and timely implementation of HR information systems. Ensures the accurate and timely filing of reports to comply with governmental regulations. Provides counsel on labor relations for the site employees, including contract interpretation, grievance resolution, and negotiating mutual agreements.


Responsible for communication of benefits and/or compensation program plans to the employee population. Oversee payroll function through supervision of payroll personnel, for non-exempt hourly and salaried employee. Address discrepancies and issues related to payroll processing




Knowledge and Experience/ Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resource management or related discipline with nine to ten years of experience or a Masters degree in a preferred or related discipline with three to five years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification a plus.
  • Requires strong analytical abilities, good interpersonal skills, along with problem-solving and communications skills.
  • Experience with reporting of HR metrics a plus
  • Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors a plus
  • Experience in administering a labor agreement and/or personnel generalist background required. Experience working in a union environment a must.
  • Working knowledge of AAP and OFCCP compliance a plus.
