Job Title: Junior HR Generalist


Primary Purpose of the Role:

Olam Americas, Inc., a global supply chain leader is seeking a self-motivated individual with great initiative for a position in our Summit, NJ location with some travel to NY locations. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs benefit administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees
  • Administers various Human Resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual in addition to company intranet
  • Assists in recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt salaried personnel, temporary hires and internship opportunities; creates and places position postings; conducts new employee orientation and facilitates onboarding
  • Administers compensation program; monitors performance evaluation program and provides support to business leaders
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decision and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records and performs reporting from database
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned




Additional Tasks:

  • Weekly PAFS on changes to pay, address, title, benefits, etc. input into Kronos software

  • New hire on-onboarding process for OAI sites, drug test, offer letters, cultivate

  • Off boarding employees for Olam Remote sites

  • Conducting exit interviews, as needed

  • Support and learn Employee staffing for Olam - support the non –exempt staff

  • Performance Management Process – assist SVP HR and Staff with Aspire coaching and personal effectiveness

  • Improve HR processes as define by Director Employee Benefits and SVP HR

  • Support the processing of Immigration paperwork with internal managers, colleagues and outside counsel

  • Handle employee data requests via Kronos from Global Headquarters in Singapore (including budgeting, manpower and hierarchy requests)

  • Support businesses located in Atlanta, Dallas, Healdsburg, NYC, Providence, Connecticut, Edison, and Purchase on various projects

  • Learn business and support HR leadership with projects in the area of policy refinement, recruiting, benefits and record keeping

  • Benefit Plan Administration -   HSA/FSA funding, premium review/payments, eligibility audits/submissions, employee inquiries, vendor management, PPACA compliance, 401K contribution submissions, Open Enrollment, wellness screening scheduling and execution, inform Finance of accruals to book

  • Changes to Kronos, such as wellness rates, new benefits and/or rate set up

  • Manage employee relations programs and processes

  • Payroll – ensure employees are paid correctly, review missing punches


Candidate Profile:


  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or Business preferred
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in business, recent graduates will be considered with past internships or work experience
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration, effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team oriented with demonstrated ability or aptitude for team leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel required
  • Advanced Excel skills -- v-lookups, pivot tables, etc. preferred
  • Kronos Workforce and Timekeeper knowledge a plus
  • Travel 5% to NYC locations (Purchase NY & WTC)
