Position Summary


Reporting to the head of Talent & Organizational Development; this position will be responsible for Leadership Development strategy and impact across Nuance. This person will be highly visible within the organization and will partner closely with HR Leadership and executive leaders to drive meaningful and impactful leadership approaches across the organization

Key Responsibilities


  • Company-wide responsibility for the leadership development strategy including leadership assessment, succession strategy and planning, Executive coaching, individual development planning (covering experiential and learning needs) and key talent retention strategies
  • Partners closely with HR Leadership team to ensure Leadership Development approach holistically meets the needs of the business
  • Works closely with the senior management team across the company to identify and anticipate learning and experience needs of our leaders
  • Assists head of T&OD with establishing leadership development plans for executive team members and other key leaders
  • Plays a key role in the design, development, and implementation of the company’s leadership development programs, on an ongoing basis across Nuance including on-going needs assessment, program design, implementation and impact
  • Serves as a consultant and advisor to corporate and division/function management on management and leadership training and development issues
  • Assists in selecting, building and maintaining relationships with, and overseeing outside developmental resources for the organization
  • Track statistics, metrics and ROI as required to understand and demonstrate impact of efforts
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the leadership development approach through the collection of data, survey and participant and management input
  • Enables change management efforts and organizational planning at the company level to position leadership opportunity and Nuance’s sustainable future growth
  • Travel – 20%




Education & Experience


  • Five years’ experience creating global Leadership Development programs at the corporate level
  • Ten to twelve plus years of related experience in multinational companies
  • BS or BA minimum; Master’s Degree or PhD preferred in related discipline(s)
  • Experience in Technology / Software industry preferred

  • Proven track record of achieving results in a matrix organization and rapidly changing internal and external environment.
  • Ability to work from a strategic perspective, developing creative, innovative and visionary approaches to Leadership Development for the company
  • Significant exposure to senior leadership as key stakeholders and constituents
  • Refined internal and external consulting skills
  • Background in providing executive coaching and development
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate key business issues and develop appropriate action plans
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial and operational business metrics
  • Certifications in best-in-class programs, tools, and instruments
  • Consistent ability to stay tuned into best practice and leading edge thinking and incorporate appropriately into our approach
  • Experience partnering with renowned university and learning institutions
  • Experience working with diverse, multi-cultural groups
