Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) is the premier association for CPAs in Pennsylvania with more than 22,000 members working in public accounting, industry, government and education. PICPA has an exciting opportunity for a Learning Experience Designer. The ideal candidate will have minimum of 2 years’ experience in adult learning and development and Instructional Systems Design application.

As the learning experience designer of a successful CPA association, you’ll be involved in the content development process to create solutions that address the changing needs of the financial industry. You’ll utilize ADDIE methodology to guide the development process from assessment to execution and evaluation.

  • Work with committee members, who are experts in the accounting profession, to understand financial industry trends to meet the needs of our membership, identify conference objectives, develop conference and webinar content, and manage the process of identifying and recruiting potential speakers.
  • Utilize instructional design methodology and your knowledge of adult learning principles, to assess the current learning environment, create new, and customize existing learning solutions in partnership with vendors, committees, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Collaborate closely with the membership, marketing, communications, and learning & development teams, to ensure successful creation, promotion and execution of in person and online continuing education offerings to meet the needs of our target audience.
  • As content liaison for conference events, coordinate with the learning operations staff to ensure all key milestones are met
  • Assist in evaluation of learning, and identification of course improvement plans
  • Collect, develop and organize evaluation criteria (including questions) for on-demand products

In this key role, you will be expected to demonstrate an innate drive to understand the needs of PICPA members and the adult education market, proactively contribute ideas and design content for PICPA’s live and electronic programming, and work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute these solutions. The successful candidate will demonstrate superb communication, interpersonal, and instructional design skills. 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 2-4 years’ experience in learning & development, including learning technologies
  • Knowledge of concepts and practices of adult learning and current trends in technology-based learning
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and sustain relationships, both internally & externally
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Position requires some travel within Pennsylvania (10-20%)
  • Proficiency in current Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office products

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of association management and the financial services industry is a plus
  • Accounting & finance subject matter knowledge is a plus
  • SharePoint
  • Project Management methodology (SCRUM or PMI)
