SUMMARY:

Exempt position responsible for guiding workforce development research and initiatives under the Center for Financial Planning, including management of the CFP Board Career Center.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Research-based initiatives to attract the next generation of financial planners are identified and implemented.

  • Career paths into the financial planning profession, consistent with variable financial planning business models, are identified and promoted.

  • Career Center is managed to meet revenue goals and to ensure smooth operation of job postings and applicant activity.

  • Marketing strategies for career center and sponsorship generate growth.

  • Scholarship programs are launched and implemented consistent with policies governing individual scholarship programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


Center for Financial Planning: Works closely with Executive Director of the Center for Financial Planning to achieve the “Workforce Development” priorities of the Center.


  • Workforce Development Advisory Group: Oversees the formation, recruitment, meeting preparation and serves as the lead staff in support of the group.
  • Research: Oversees the development and implementation of research in support of Center Workforce Development agenda.
  • Workforce Development Initiatives: In consultation with Workforce Development Advisory Group and the Executive Director, develops and implements initiatives to advance workforce development agenda.
  • Maintains necessary demographics and metrics to support and enhance the Workforce Development agenda.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Workforce Development research, agenda and initiatives in support of the Center’s goals.

Career Center: Works closely with technology provider for online career center on software upgrades, new product offerings, customer service issues, and marketing needs.

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations, including overseeing the handling of calls and emails from constituents about career center.

  • Creates and monitors the budget for Career Center, and ensures the program net revenue goals are achieved.

  • Based on a deep understanding of customer/user experience, identifies and fills gaps and generates new ideas that grow engagement, improve user experience and drive growth.

  • Develops and implements strategies to expand the Career, including working with registered programs, firms, associations, as well as developing new sources of job postings.

  • Manages relationships with Career Center business partners/third-party vendors.

  • Working with CFP Board Marketing Department, develops and executes marketing plan to ensure the stability and drive the growth of the Career Center.

  • Launches, executes, and manages new career center programs/resources including career fairs, onsite coaching/resume programs, articles, webinars, and other services.

  • Manages any mentoring program including implementing marketing strategies, conducting mentoring programming and outreach, and technology enhancements for the program.

  • Determines and analyzes competitive environment, including benchmarking of other career centers, and propose strategies to enhance competitive advantage.

  • Monitors and reports on performance indicators/metrics; proposes and implements adjustments as necessary to meet performance and revenue goals.

Scholarship Program: Manages scholarship programs under the Center for Financial Planning consistent with the purpose and intent of the individual programs.

  • Manages the relationship with the sponsors of all scholarship programs.

  • Works with the CFP Board Marketing and Communications departments to publicize the scholarships and solicit applications.

  • Oversees a process for acceptance of applications, independent review and evaluation of scholarship applications, and communications with applicants consistent with the specific criteria of each program.

  • Supports develop staff in generating new scholarship funds to be administered under the Center.

  • Develops policies and procedures, consistent with the mission and priorities of the Center and the scholarship sponsor(s), for administration of new scholarship funds under the Center.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years’ experience in program management, preferably in financial services.

  • Working knowledge of financial service business models

  • perience in workforce development field (training, professional development, etc) strongly preferred

  • Project management experience a plus.

  • Experience with job board operations and workforce management programs.

  • Knowledge of the business aspects in operating a successful job board.

  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to manage corporate partnerships.

  • Demonstrated public relations skills and political acumen, and ability to synthesize input from a variety of interests into a coherent strategic agenda.

  • Ability to make sound business decisions based upon data.

  • Knowledge of marketing, including establishing strategies, communications, and program launch.

  • General knowledge of finance, including ability to read and understand financial data such as program revenue, operating expenses, net income, and return on investment analysis.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Understanding of and familiarity with technologies underlying web or digital products.

  • Outstanding problem solving skills.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects/priorities.
