Job Description:

  • The Occupational Health Administrator will serve as front line support for all Workers’ Compensation, General and Auto Liability for the District and liaison to the third party administrator. Diplomacy, confidentiality and professionalism are essential to success in this role.
  • Serve as District representative on Workers’ Compensation depositions, mediations and hearings, as necessary. Partners with both internal and external legal counsel. Annual State filing for Self-insured assessment fees, in addition to filing Annual Drug Free Workplace & Safety program credits.  Point person for notification of all incidents and accidents, both within the District, as well as accidents with public involvement. Gathers documentation, photos and repair estimates. Partners with third party administrator for claims payment.
  • Responsible for the District's Drug & Alcohol Testing programs; DOT-required for CDL holders of class A, B, or C as a condition of employment. Non-DOT-Florida Drug free workplace for all other staff. Administer the annual audiograms and maintain all associated records for approximately 500 employees.
  • Liaison with CareWorks Absence Management for all FMLA related matters. Administer the District's sick leave pool which includes open enrollment twice yearly, as well as determining eligibility for requests to draw from pool. Coordinates all job-related physicals; level 3 new hires, divers, crane operators. Key involvement in return to work coordination with managers/supervisors     


Employment Guidelines:

  • Typically has a Bachelor's degree in Occupational or Industrial Health Management, Human Resources, or related field
  • 8+ years experience that should include program management work in occupational health, Workers’ Compensation, and/or Risk Management



  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License.


Physical Requirements/ Working Environment:

  • Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency situations and depending on assigned emergency response role.
