Job Details

Akebono Brake Corporation is seeking an Organizational Development Manager to develop and administer company-wide training programs that are aligned with the Company’s strategic goals.  The Organizational Development Manager creates and implements programs that connect employees with business goals; consults with leadership to identify business and change management processes; evaluates business initiatives to ascertain appropriate programs that meet company goals.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain training/development programs for the entire organization
  • Develop awareness learning tools in support of the Company’s global business
  • Develop and maintain departmental modular training initiatives
  • Lead implementation of change management initiatives
  • Work in partnership with line management and Human Resources to identify employee training/development needs
  • Participate in talent assessments and succession planning
  • Serve as a mentor to supervisors and managers
  • Promote employee engagement by fostering open communication and soliciting feedback
  • Provide coaching and guidance to line management to facilitate meaningful performance feedback and identify and address performance issues while ensuring open communication and consistency
  • Develop global process and tools for long range organization capability and talent planning processes.
  • Develop core tools for organization realignment efforts and consult with key business stakeholders on restructuring initiatives.
  • Help drive the development of global standard jobs and capabilities, as well as an annual review and maintenance process.
  • Partner with the Talent Development team to create learning roadmaps outlining learning offerings aligned to capabilities across functions.
  • Develop the global strategy and tool(s) for measuring culture and employee engagement, along with the process for driving continuous improvement actions.
  • Create and implement change management strategy and plans for large-scale business initiatives.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Organizational Development, or related area required; MBA preferred.
  • Experience in the automotive / manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
  • Minimum seven years in training or organizational development.
  • Prior experience driving initiatives related to organization realignment and competency.
  • A passion for change management and experience leading change initiatives, is required.
  • Advanced project skills with proven experience managing large scale initiatives.
  • Advanced coaching, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills with experience managing multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Prior experience working with global teams.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources, Change Management, and Talent Management systems.
  • Action-oriented and results-driven; able to gather information from multiple sources to propel the organization forward.
  • Creativity and ability to persuade, build commitment to vision, mission and goals of the company.
  • Self-starter; able to multitask, managing projects on tight schedules from inception through delivery with little oversight and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including SharePoint.
  • Experience with a Japanese company is a plus.

  • Possesses the interpersonal skills to build relationships with key customer contacts responsible for the decision making process.

  • Actively listens, probes and identifies concerns. Understands customer's business and speaks their language.

  • Develops credibility, trust and commitment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has does not have direct supervisory experience.

Physical Demands/Environment

This position requires the following physical abilities:

To sit; to use hands (to finger, handle, or feel), to reach with hands and arms, to stand, to talk, to hear and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. In addition, the specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is mostly:

The work environment is mostly sedentary; however, there is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration and to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Other Requirements

There is occasional travel to visit other Akebono facilities or third party vendors, therefore ability to fly and drive a motor vehicle is required. International and/or overseas travel may be required.
