University of Massachusetts at Amherst

The Isenberg School of Management is establishing a pool of non-tenure track part-time faculty. Openings may be available to teach on-campus courses as well as courses in our online and part-time MBA, MS, BS and BBA programs offered through the university's division of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). Some CPE courses are delivered fully online allowing faculty to teach from anywhere with a dependable Internet connection. Others employ a hybrid model (online and face-to-face). For hybrid model courses, the face-to-face class sessions meet in various locations in Massachusetts including Springfield, Shrewsbury, and the greater metropolitan Boston area. We are seeking applicants to teach MBA and undergraduate level courses in the following disciplines: accounting, analytics, finance, human resources, information management, law, managerial economics, marketing, operations management, organizational behavior, project management, and strategy

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Faculty hired must hold a graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education that is appropriate to their discipline. That is, in all areas except law successful applicants must hold an MBA or related Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Faculty hired to teach law must hold a J.D. from an accredited law school
  • A current record of scholarly publications or professional engagement (such as relevant work experience, professional consulting activities, trade publications, etc.) consistent with applicable accreditation standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Doctorate or its equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Prior teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher education
  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience teaching non-traditional students

As a condition of hire, applicants must be willing to complete our online training program. The Isenberg School utilizes Blackboard Learn for its online and hybrid degree programs. Compensation is competitive and varies across different programs

Applicants should be aware that a teaching assignment is not guaranteed and that assignments may not be offered in the order in which candidates enter the pool as openings for different classes occur at different times. While our online and part-time programs operate year round, the primary need is during the fall and spring semesters. Successful applicants from this pool will be assigned based on programmatic needs beginning for the summer '18 term and as needed through summer '19

The Isenberg School of Management is AACSB accredited and part of a vibrant and growing research university. The Isenberg School's online and part-time MBA programs are highly ranked nationally and worldwide. In 2017, the Financial Times ranked the online program 3rd worldwide and 1st in the U.S. In 2017, US News and World Report ranked the part time program 13th and the full time program 57th nationally.
