JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Under general direction from the Human Resources Manager, the Payroll Manager monitors all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s payroll processing objectives. In this role, you will plan, coordinate and manage the functions of the payroll process. We are seeking an extremely detail-oriented person with significant knowledge of payroll administration.

Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Manage all aspects of payroll and ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll budget analysis (Actual vs. Budget) and ensure that all employees are properly classified
  • Complete payroll journal and reconcile various payroll reports
  • Audit payroll to ensure compliance
  • Update and maintain employee information in our time management system (Deltek Vision)
  • Generate and distribute paychecks for all employees and accurately maintain the payroll database
  • Research and resolve local, state and federal tax questions, issues and audits
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to payroll inquiries
  • Process new hires and terminations in HRIS system (ADP Workforce Now)
  • Process expense reimbursement
  • Process paid leave, off cycle payrolls, bonuses and other exceptions
  • Maintain employee records, reports and logs pertaining to applicant flow procedures; verifies employment status
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to your job accomplishments
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager with employee/personnel projects to include mailings, monthly reports, and other various HR tasks

 

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or related field required
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) required
  • 5+ years of specialized payroll experience, preferably in a construction management or related environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills are required with working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency in a payroll processing system, ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing including the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws affecting payroll and compensation. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task are required
  • High degree of professionalism with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Very strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Very strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
