Job Details

The Senior Associate Director will report to the Senior Director of Human Resources and Talent Management and support human resource projects and initiatives along with day-to-day HR functions for the Office of Alumni and Development. This individual will partner with the Senior Director to successfully execute team goals that support the department, along with managing and providing leadership to several human resource staff members.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage HR staff with emphasis on team efficiency and collaboration to support the mission of the department and unit goals.

  • Partner with management and the Director of Recruitment and Professional Development on succession planning, developing talent and retention strategies.

  • Manage a comprehensive group of human resource processes which include performance management, compensation, labor/employee relations and succession planning.

  • Provide recommendations and identify opportunities that support employee engagement.

  • Conduct needs assessments to determine gaps in performance and recommend resources for staff development.

  • Manage employee relations issues, lead confidential workplace investigations and work with the Senior Director and Central HR on a recommended plan of action.

  • Handle employee disciplinary and grievance procedures, which will include meeting with union representatives, participating in grievance hearings, mediating disputes and resolving issues with Labor Relations and Union Local 2110.

  • Provide recommendations and identify opportunities that support employee engagement.

  • Develop and update internal HR related policies and procedures within the guidelines of the University to support the needs of the Office of Alumni and Development.

  • Ensure that the department is in compliance with University policies and procedures, as well as contractual agreements with the union.

  • Evaluate HR/TM metrics reports and provide recommendations for enhancements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and 4 to 6 years of related experience required. Prior experience managing a team is required. Demonstrated ability working in a high volume complex environment that requires confidentiality, a high level of collaboration, discretion, diplomacy and tact.
