Job Details

This position provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for Human Resources. Works in concert with other Leadership Team members to develop and guide strategic direction in addition to developing, mentoring and coaching a team of human resource professionals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall strategic and operational human resource leadership to the organization.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures including recruitment, selection, retention, employee training and development, performance management, compensation, employee benefits, safety, employee assistance, legal compliance, employment practices and procedures.
  • Develop outstanding working relationships with operating and shared services managers.
  • Determine best in class interaction with employees including employee survey.
  • Develop and lead a team of human resource professionals with a goal of earning high level of credibility as an effective and responsive internal consulting group.
  • Oversee and provide leadership in the critical area of Talent Management by facilitating policy design and implementation of procedures; from hiring (assuring excellent candidates), succession planning to employee development to performance management and assist in the implementation.
  • Co-responsible with operating departments for labor relations strategy and management of ongoing union relations.
  • Determines what human capital and associated support is required to achieve the company’s vision and major business objectives.
  • Ensure company compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to employee benefits, compensation, employment and training. Remain current with changes in human resource and employment law and manage company relationships with state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Interpret legal aspects of the position regarding OSHA, EEOC and other laws governing employee relations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the execution and interpretation of policies and for the successful operation of assigned units. Has authority for hiring and disciplining employees. May be responsible for directing the work of first-line supervisors.



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in business related field (Human Resources, Business Management, Finance, etc)
  • Extensive years of experience in Human Resources, 15 years minimum
  • 7 years or more of Human Resource leadership
  • 3 years or more experience with union relationships
  • A valid driver’s license
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.



  • Master’s Degree in business related field (Business Management, Finance, Marketing, etc.) or a PHD in employment law
  • Extensive years of experience in Human Resources, preferably 20 years minimum or more
  • 10 years or more of Human Resource leadership
  • 5 years or more experience with union relationships

  • Ability to work independently without the need for daily direct supervision and a strong sense of urgency.
