The Senior Director, Human Resources works with the Chief HR Officer, General Counsel and Secretary and other members of the Senior Leadership Team, including the CEO, to build and manage the Human Resources organization, which includes talent acquisition and retention, organizational development, policies and programs covering employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, staff development and training, and compliance with all applicable U.S and international federal, state and local laws.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize and implement the organization’s overall human resources strategy and the HR function’s daily operations, to include talent acquisition, talent development, talent management and total rewards/benefits program, while sustaining credibility throughout the organization; ensure alignment with organizational and functional business strategies.
  • Assess, develop, and sustain a global human resource information system that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization; evaluate procedures and technology solutions to improve human capital data management.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop HR department staff.
  • Provide leadership and consulting support to company managers and senior management staff on matters of goal setting (objectives) and performance management.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range human resources goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Implement programs that enhance and sustain employee engagement and enablement.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations and new developments in applicable laws regarding human resources.
  • Plan and collaborate on internal staff communication plans (i.e. staff retreat, quarterly staff meetings, policy implementations, etc.).
  • Create vision and content for staff training and development programs.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce applicable US and regional employee policies and procedures (including personnel manuals) to comply with legal and regulatory policies/guidelines taking into account employee relations, sexual harassment, employee complaints, and employee equity matters.
  • Other responsibilities and duties, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources Management or Business.
  • Human Resources professional certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP). 
  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressive business and human resources experience.
  • Supervisory experience, leading and developing a HR team.
  • Demonstrated skills in management and leadership of all Human Resources functions, strategy development and implementation and assessment and evaluation of program/system effectiveness.
  • Able to work effectively as a department lead as well as partner on key initiatives with the senior management team, demonstrate strategic, operational planning and execution skills and integrate HR, business and practical analysis.
  • Willingness to seek to foster an agile, collaborative HR business partner approach throughout the HR function, ensure alignment of HR strategy with business goals, creatively manage risk while meeting business objectives and place a high premium on internal client service and satisfaction.
  • Experience enhancing, developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems in an effort to continuously improve client service for various functions overseen and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity well and be adaptable and flexible as business needs change and evolve.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills as well as top notch organization, planning and delegation skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment, wage and salary laws and regulations.
  • Able to handle highly sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and complete confidentiality.
  • Working experience managing annual budgets for the Human Resources function.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to travel globally, when required (approx. up to 10% of the time to regional offices).

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) certification.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit and/or the education industry.
  • Experience with and knowledge of global employment laws / regulations and benefit plans (retirement, health care, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of the Workday software application/product.
