Job Details

Provide strategic and tactical associate relations support to associates at all levels including coaching, counseling, company policies and procedures guidance and advice.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Manages and resolves complex associate relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance to work groups to increase productivity and support their business objectives.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Works closely with management and associates to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of associates, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.


  • BA/ BS degree in Human Resources or Behavioral Sciences (preferred)
  • Professional HR certificate desirable; continuing post graduate professional development through participation in educational seminars and professional workshops
  • Involvement in professional societies or groups
  • 8-10 years of progressively complex HR experience in associate relations at all levels in a multi-site environment
  • Familiar with federal and state employment laws
  • Experience with conflict resolution strategies (preferred)
  • Ability to create and present to small, medium and large audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Human capital management systems (PeopleSoft)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high level of initiative
  • Demonstrate innovative and flexible approaches to complex situations and project, specifically:
    • Establishing a persuasive, yet tactful, rapport internally with middle and upper management and externally with state and federal agency representatives, consultants and vendors.
    • Maintains a high level of professionalism and expertise in dealing with employees and management.
  • This position is located in Torrance, CA and does not cover relocation expenses.
