Job Description:

IAT has an immediate opening for a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (“Sr. HRBP”), located in Pasadena, California or Lancaster, California, that will support our Commercial Transportation Business Unit. The Sr. HRBP is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in the Commercial Transportation Business Unit and serves as a consultant to management on human resources issues and will also be an employee champion and change agent.

 

Furthermore, the Sr. HRBP will assess and anticipate HR-related needs while communicating and collaborating proactively with the HR department and business unit to develop integrated solutions and partner on the implementation of such needs. This role is also responsible for formulating partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of IAT.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with business leader in supporting business and identifying people strategies to help execute the business strategy. Provides proactive HR support to business leadership and employees.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching career development, reward and recognition and disciplinary actions).

  • Functions as a seasoned professional in evaluating risks and recommending best approaches to HR based upon the risk assessment.

  • Maintains an effective level of business knowledge about the business unit’s financial position, midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

  • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productive and retention.

  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Develops HR programs at the corporate level.

  • Provides oversight and approval for salary administration for business unit support.

  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

  • Identifies training needs for business unites and individual executive coaching needs. May develop and conduct training sessions as needed

  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.

  • Travels between business unit locations and occasionally to the Raleigh headquarters.

  • Perform other duties as needed.

     

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with at least 10 years of current experience working as a Human Resource Business Partner (to include talent management, employee relations and training) or equivalent.
  • Equivalent is defined as 14 years of current experience working as a Human Resource Business Partner (to include talent management, employee relations and training).
  • Experience supporting 300 or more employees to include executives.
  • Strong employee relations experience.
  • Relationship builder and partnering experience in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, to assigned locations.
  • Ability to represent the business unit’s position and needs as it relates to strategic HR planning.
  • Ability to deal with complex clients and situations.
  • Demonstrated confidence in making recommendations based upon information at hand.
  • Excellent verbal, written, conflict resolution and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills, sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills.

 

     Preferred Experience:

  • Prior Insurance experience.

  • Spanish Speaking Skills.
