The Senior Manager, Human Resources is responsible for developing and leading an exceptional core HR department of approximately four professionals. As a leader, the Senior Manager, Human Resources supports and coaches the core HR team to provide programs and services that support our workforce strategy and employee value proposition, and to continually improve the CAP as a great place to work. 

Working with the core HR team, the Senior Manager, Human Resources is responsible for the planning, design, and administration of employee compensation, benefits, and employee wellness, as well as establishing, implementing, and improving staffing processes and affirmative action initiatives, and ensuring data integrity of HRIS. The Senior Manager, Human Resources also works with the VP Human Resources and Governance Services and Compensation Lead in supporting the Compensation Committee of the Board, collaborating with the committee chair and professional staff leadership to ensure effective and compliant governance of CAP compensation programs, and ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations, and College policies and practices. In addition, the Senior Manager, Human Resources is responsible for defining, monitoring, and applying meaningful metrics and reporting.

As a member of the HR team, the Senior Manager collaborates with colleagues within and beyond HR to develop and align programs and services that meet current and future business needs. These include selection, on-boarding, performance management and development, employee engagement, and responsible financial management. 

Qualified candidates must be proven strong people managers of a comparable-sized team, have demonstrated ability to set clear direction and provide timely coaching and feedback, empower and develop individual team members, motivate performance and build strong teamwork. Ideal candidates will have a solid HR Generalist background and be able to align HR strategy to meet business objectives.  Candidates must have experience with a broad range of core HR disciplines including staffing, compensation, benefits, and systems, as well as current knowledge of continually changing compliance requirements and legal considerations.  Candidates should also have the ability to establish appropriate metrics and use data effectively to analyze issues, anticipate trends, and make decisions. 

In addition, qualified candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build positive relationships, work collaboratively as a member of a team and with a wide range of people and departments, and build common purpose.  Strong communication skills, oral and written, the ability to demonstrate respectful, direct communication, maintain strong planning and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines are required.  The ideal candidate will be a quick and eager learner, willing to learn from others, and hold the ability to grasp, synthesize, apply and effectively communicate complex information.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Windows environment is required.  Experience with a variety of HRIS and ATS platforms is helpful.  A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Business or Human Resources.  MBA or Master’s degree in related field is preferred.  A minimum of 5 years of experience in a variety of HR disciplines is required.  Experience as a people manager is required.  Experience with leading an HR department is strongly preferred.  Health care industry experience is helpful.  SHRM-SCP or SPHR or equivalent certification is desirable.  This position may require minimal travel of up to 12 days per year.
