Canon USA is currently seeking a Sr. Manager, Payroll to join our Corporate HR team in Melville, NY. The Sr. Manager, Payroll manages the activities of the payroll shared services function across the United States for multiple Canon companies, ensuring the generation of the Canon Americas payroll, including labor distribution records, vacation, personal, sick leave accrual, overtime and withholding status. Meets all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contributions.  Oversees Payroll Operations, HR Administration, Payroll Tax and Payroll Systems. 


  • Provide appropriate direction and leadership to Payroll Managers and staff for the accurate preparation, processing and timely distribution of salary, commission, bonus and other like payments to all CUSA and Subsidiary employees.
  • Manage the compilation, computing, processing and audit related payroll processes including but not limited to time & attendance, leaves, garnishments, payroll tax withholding, wage reporting, relocations, etc., to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies as well as federal, state, and local statutes.
  • Build controls, validate and assure tax accuracy and compliance obligations are achieved across the U.S. as well as manage Federal/State/Local audits as required.
  • Manage the preparation of periodic analysis and reports as requested by internal/external auditors, tax department, finance, subsidiaries and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of all tax filing and remittance, amended returns, payroll adjustments, W2C’s and tax notices
  • Responsible for strategic planning of M&A activity.
  • Manage payroll systems including implementation, maintenance, requirements gathering, QA testing of payroll and time & attendance systems.
  • Manage Vendor relationships and contracts to ensure legal compliance with federal and state regulations. Compliance responsibilities including Sarbanes-Oxley and all Wage & Hour laws.
  • Responsible for tracking and following up on open items and reporting status to management on a regular basis.


  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business administration
  • Minimum of 10  years of experience, at least 7 years of progressive payroll management experience with leading edge payroll applications, processing payroll in a multi-state, multi-site environment.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and ADP Tax Service are both preferred.
