To that end, BCSB is looking for a dynamic, resourceful and strategic minded individual to lead our Human Resources function.

 

 

 

The Senior Vice President of Human Resources partners with the executive leadership team to envision, create and execute HR strategy and initiatives that drive business results and people development in a dynamic business environment. She/he leads Human Resources initiatives to successful completion, provides deep and broad HR expertise and has an understanding of BCSB business lines to deliver people strategies. The incumbent leads innovative and quality solutions and directs HR administrative functions including, talent acquisition, HR risk and compliance, performance management, compensation and benefits, organizational design and planning, training and development, employee relations and creating/managing people policies.

 

This role includes support as a key business partner to the BCSB’s senior leadership team and departmental managers on Human Resource related issues. She/he represents the culture and values of the organization by modeling expected behavior and upholding the credibility and respect of the HR department by being ethically responsible, consistently approachable and building and maintaining a superior workforce.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the effort to develop and maintain a superior workforce in collaboration with BCSB’s management. In this capacity, she/he directs the human resources operations in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Training & Development, Organizational Planning & Design, Performance Management, HRIS, Compliance & Risk, and Benefit & Compensation.  

  • Transform BCSB’s multi-year strategy into annual HR goals, objectives and metrics; cascade and monitor on behalf of the HR team. Build and cultivate relationships with peers, employees and external business partners and use these relationships to propel BCSB to best in class status, with consistent, measurable and executable approaches to our operations, products and services and support of our business partners.

  • Drive efforts to create a high performing employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality work, continuous improvement, creativity and initiative. Develops meaningful performance management initiatives, policies and procedures to identify and motivate high performers. In this capacity, develops rapport with functional area executives and department managers and provides HR guidance on employee development, compensation, organizational design and change, retention management, compliance with labor and employment regulations, employee development, selection and performance management.

  • Develop and maintain annual HR budget to support operational strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.

  • Using technology, develop and provide management with company trends through an HR dashboard to ensure challenges in the business are met with accurate information that support sound solutions. Develop and provide HR dashboard information on a regular basis to Senior Management to ensure transparency and up to date staff information that will affect decision-making and financial forecasting.

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal counsel as needed. Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements; keep abreast of current marketplace trends and anticipates new legislation; ensure BCSB’s staff adheres to requirements; advise management on needed actions; ensure records are up-to-date and maintained in accordance with federal and local regulations and expectations; ensures accuracy of required federal contractor reports and filings (e.g. EEOC, ADA and Affirmative Action).

  • Direct and manage the HR staff ensuring that all members of the department are properly trained, developed and have the ability and tools necessary to successfully perform their responsibilities in support of the employees of BCSB. In this capacity, the incumbent hires, coaches, and provides guidance in performance management and development.

 

Requirements

 Experience

  • At least 10 years of successful experience in multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational design, employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state labor and employment law, including EEO/AAP, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ACA and ERISA.

  • Diverse background in multiple industries; banking, preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrated success in managing staff.

  • Demonstrated success in project management working with multiple deliverables in different timeframes.

  • Proven ability to be perceptive, tactful and exercise discretion with effective interpersonal skills and strong emotional intelligence.

  • Self-motivated and assertive with an ability to hunt down answers and drive solutions autonomously.

  • Proven ability to develop strong trusting relationships and be an influencer across the organization (across function, level and location) in order to gain support and achieve results.

  • Proven ability to be a key change agent to initiate, facilitate and manage changes through effective planning, communication and coaching.

  • Proven ability to speak and write in a clear and concise manner; to develop and present comprehensive reports and proposals on complex information.

  • Proven ability to understand the use of HR system software.

  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and guide other HR team members as needed and navigate through change while staying focused on driving critical items.

 

Education

  • Required

    • Undergraduate Degree in management, business, human resources, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Preferred

    • Masters Degree in related field

    • SPHR and/or SHRM SCP certification
