Upstate Cerebral Palsy - Utica, NY

Upstate Cerebral Palsy is a growing not-for-profit human services agency with administrative offices located in Utica, NY, that provides services for complex individuals with developmental disabilities. The Agency offers residential services to Adults and Children, has an Education Division for preschool and school age children, behavioral health clinics, primary health clinics and has affiliations with several agencies specializing in health home services and autism services.

The Agency has over 2,000 employees at over 80 locations in Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis and Madison Counties and is an organization dedicated to “Empowering People Through Exceptional Opportunities." Upstate Cerebral Palsy is recognized locally and across New York State for the high quality of care it provides to individuals as well as for the sound business practices of the Agency.

The Senior Vice President of Human Resources serves on the senior leadership team of Upstate Cerebral Palsy and is responsible for all aspects of the human resources function including staff recruitment, employee benefits, employee relations and training. The position reports to the Executive Vice President of the Agency and joins a team of strong leaders dedicated to continuous improvement, team excellence and positive partnerships throughout the community and the organization.

Key Activities Include:

  • Lead the Human Resources Leadership Team which consists of strong leaders in each respective area of Recruitment, Benefits and Employee Relations. In addition to the leadership team, there are 15 HR staff members all dedicated to strengthening the workforce of Upstate Cerebral Palsy and its affiliates.

  • Manage the broker relationships along with the Benefits team in the areas of health insurance, worker’s compensation, employee leaves, and retirement.

  • Manage additional community and vendor relationships across the HR function including relationships with staffing agencies and benefit companies.

  • Networking with peer leaders across the industry to keep current with trends and regulations in order to bring innovative ideas to the Agency.

  • Utilize data analysis to keep the HR function running in top form across all areas of the Agency, bringing efficiencies to current processes and utilizing best practices to continually improve the departments.

  • Strengthen relationships with local colleges to further develop internship, employment and training opportunities for staff.  



Educational Requirements/Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelors Degree required in Human Resources or Management. Masters Degree preferred

  • PHR/SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Preferred

  • 5 years of Human Resource Management experience required. 7 years preferred.

  • Intermediate Computer skills
