Senior Workers Compensation Specialist

The Senior Workers Compensation Specialist coordinates the workers’ compensation program for California employees.   Works with leadership to develop programs to ensure a safe working environment for employees and to control costs.   

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • This is accomplished by reviewing injury trends and costs and recommending remediation. 
  • Responsible to manage claims with external carriers and attorneys from employee’s first report of injury to resolution with a focus on ensuring the employee receives the right care for the type of injury and returning the employee to work as quickly as possible.
  • Works closely with the selected medical providers to communicate and establish protocols.  Reviews claims with Industrial clinics to discuss cases and treatment plans. 
  • Monitors performance of clinics against Prospect protocols.
  • Acts as Injury Counselor for employees leading the injured employee through the claims process when required. 
  • Leads an Interactive Process with the injured employee and manager to identify needed accommodations such as modified duty or alternative work positions.
  • Trains managers on processes and ensures compliance.

Minimum Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: Minimum three years’ experience in a position primarily focused on Worker’s Compensation.  Health care experience preferred by not required.
