Sr. Compensation & Performance Analyst


Essential Function
Under supervision from the Director of Compensation, is responsible for supporting the maintenance and the evaluation of compensation and performance management programs. This includes, but is not limited to salary and performance administration functions, conducting internal and external audits and market analysis, the job description review process including Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and EEO-1 classifications. The Compensation and Performance Analyst supports the performance review process through reporting, conducting audits, testing and assisting with the communication plan. This role also participates in the implementation of process and system improvements.


Characteristic Duties

  • Evaluate highly complex administrative and staff positions in the University's classification and compensation programs, in accordance with HR departmental goals and in compliance with related rules and regulations
  • Execute job description review process, including but not limited to performing job analysis to determine the appropriate EEO1 classification and exemption status under FLSA
  • Maintains job description library, including maintenance and auditing of job descriptions
  • Provides analytical support related to the development, design, and maintenance of compensation programs
  • Administers compensation cycle and assists with the communication plan, and aggregating pay recommendations to ensure an accurate and smooth approval reporting process
  • Provides support to field HR on compensationrelated activities and projects
  • Researches, collects and analyzes internal and external compensation data, including actively benchmarking competitor compensation practices in order to recommend how the University of Cincinnati can remain competitive in the local marketplace
  • Participates in and supports implementation of UC's compensation management and performance review processes and recommends improvements
  • Provides HR Analytics support for compensation and performance management systems
  • Administers functions of the performance management system including testing, generating compliance reports, and assisting endusers with functionality
  • Conducts audits of technical competencies and ensures updates to applicable HR and internal employee development systems
  • Work involves providing guidance and counseling on performance management initiatives; and developing, coordinating and implementing workforce development and succession planning programs.
  • Oversees development and implementation of university core competencies, core values and key performance measures.
  • Provides ongoing oversight and support to ensure that performance measures are being used to effectively manage operations, identify and manage risks and effect organizational change.
  • Analyze and interpret HR Data including turnover data and identify opportunity areas as well as develop plans to address concerns.
  • Analyze and interpret information gathered through engagement and exit surveys; reports findings and recommendations to the senior leadership team.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of three (3) years of experience. Experience must be in Compensation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Excel, Power Point, and Outlook products is required
  • Knowledge of SAP/Success Factors cloud or similar products required
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis/manipulation required
  • Prior experience in base pay design/administration including job evaluation, benchmarking and market pricing required
  • HR Systems experience including audit and report generation required
  • Ability to create and analyze data efficiently and accurately by utilizing data analysis tools required (i.e., VLookup and similar formulas, Pivot tables, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Capable of maintaining confidential information and matters with discretion
  • Experience applying Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) rules and regulations preferred
  • Experience evaluating markets and trends affecting pay practices preferred
  • Experience working with performance management processes and/or systems preferred
