Clinical Diagnostics Division (CDD) – Fremont, California

CDD is a large, global organization made up 2,000 employees across the world (California, Virginia, Germany and Finland with emerging markets in China).  The organization consists of multiple business units which develop, manufacture and market instruments and consumables that serve a broad, diverse mix of diagnostic segments (Niche Diagnostics, Biomarkers, Clinical Diagnostics Systems, and Contract Manufacturing).  

Job Profile

Reporting to the VP of HR, CDD you will have the unique opportunity to be a strategic partner & and change agent who will help to create a culture of excellence & cohesion within an acquisition based division. In this role you will utilize your strong business acumen and be challenged to engage, influence, & persuade business leaders to partner & lead successful business related initiatives to drive the culture toward the vision.  Your reach will be into organizational assessment, talent management, change management, & employee engagement. You will have the support of your HR team to manage all aspects of HR for CDD and continue to drive for excellence & development of the HR team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop HR strategies that directly align with company business strategies, goals, and initiatives.
  • Translate business strategies/objectives into HR goals/programs in line with company values, ethics, & policies.
  • Oversight & continuous improvement of processes /programs that drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop successful strategies to increase candidate attraction, employee development and retention.
  • Provide consultation & partnership to leadership for talent acquisition, organizational assessment, performance/career management, compensation, succession/talent planning, and change management.
  • Lead & promote a positive “One Thermo Fisher” culture as an employee advocate balanced with company goals.
  • Lead the CDD HR team & partner with HR centers of excellence functional teams, regional teams & peers within the Division to meet the goals of the business unit & overall CDD. This includes leading Division level initiatives.
  • Counsel employees and managers regarding employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and/or terminations meeting business, country, state and federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, human resources, psychology, related discipline required.
  • Eight to ten years of progressive experience in all aspects of Human Resources and as an HR Business Partner.
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing operations (or substantial non-exempt population).
  • Fluency in English language, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-15% of the time.
