We are seeking a Learning & Development Senior Director to build and scale learning and development programs that prepare, equip, excite and continuously enable our team members. With a strong background in operations, strategic learning, expertise in innovative training solutions, and excellent people management and relationship skills, this hands-on leader will partner with senior human resources and business leaders to create a team member development vision, and through a dedicated learning and development team, bring it to fruition.





  • Learning and Development Strategy – In support of Conifer’s business and people strategy, and in partnership with senior human resources and business leadership, define, implement and manage the implement of the learning and development strategy.
  • Instructional Design – Analyzes performance and learning needs, determines scope, selects appropriate solutions (including where appropriate non-development approaches), leverages traditional and innovative strategies, and develops curriculum and other development solutions that build capability.
  • Learning and Development Delivery – Oversees the delivery of learning and development programs utilizing multiple modalities, e.g., virtual and in-person instructor led workshops, self-paced programs, e-learning, blended learning, action & experience-based learning, mobile learning, micro learning, social learning, gamification). Has the lead role in managing master calendar of L&D programs; includes ensuring logistics, resources, and support are in place to execute successful team member experiences.
  • Learning Evaluation – Drives the regular measurement of learning and development to ensure positive reaction, learning, return on investment and behavioral change. As needed, leads redesign efforts to ensure learning and development initiatives consistently achieve required outcomes. Partners with HR, organization design, internal and external operations teams, and process and technical team members to establish changes to work design or creation of performance support tools to enable required performance or behavior.
  • Relationship Management – Builds partnerships with leaders across the company to understand our business, the learning and development implications, and to work collaboratively to implement L&D solutions that achieve desired outcomes. Sustains partnerships through active response to, engagement of, and partnership with clients throughout the learning request, design, delivery and evaluation cycle
  • Team Management – Manages the learning and development team both directly and indirectly through the learning and development managers. Responsibilities include organization and position design, selection and training of staff, goal setting and performance management, coaching, and active team management and engagement activities.

  • Communication – Has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Can simplify complex issues into terms that all levels can understand.   • Strategic – Strong strategic thinking skills and experience building strategic plans; ability to translate strategy into organization capability and develop learning solutions that drive stability and retention; exemplifies excellent decision making, judgment, and common sense.

  • Collaborative - Excellent skills in guiding the development of new ideas, working with business leaders and managers across the business to identify skill gaps, and delivering programming of all types. A dynamic developer, storyteller and coach for new practical and creative solutions to people development, including bringing innovative approaches to learning.

  • Learning and Development - Knowledge of current and future trends/practices in learning and development. Expertise in adult learning theories, systems thinking, and organizational culture. Knowledge of training systems, including authoring and Learning Management Systems, a plus. Innovative and experimental mindset - willing to experiment with new learning approaches and technologies.

  • People Leadership - Advanced ability to identify, select, lead, engage and inspire highly skilled learning and development professionals.

  • Change Management – Track record of planning and leading change activities with an eye on needs of all stakeholder groups.

  • Project Management – Ability to manage multiple large-scale development and delivery projects to ensure on-time delivery and quality using both internal and external resources.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, Organization Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in one of the above disciplined preferred.
  • 10-15 years’ experience leading a large, professional, learning and development organization preferably in a high turnover service oriented industry, supporting 10,000+ team members located across multiple locations



  • 50 to 70% Travel to various operational sites
