Sr. HR Generalist

This position is considered full-time with benefits – 30+ hours per week. Applicants must live in Oregon and have practical, hands-on Oregon rules, regulations, and policy experience.

 

Provide Human Resources Business Partner support for a multiple business unit(s) within an operating group with a population of over 300 employees. Provide day-to-day HR guidance to line management in the areas of policy interpretation and implementation, FMLA/ADA/Workers compensation guidance, provide employees with the first line of response to benefit and HR related questions, performance management and training to achieve the best possible business solution, and may assist in coordinating workforce development. Advise management and staff of relevant corporate personnel practices, policies, and procedures. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Builds trust-based, collaborative relationships with managers and employees.
  • Consults with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate. Provides coaching to managers on employee relations issues. Seeks consultation from the Sr. VP & CHRO to ensure consistent messaging that align with company philosophy.
  • Supports guidance, coaching, and support activities associated with the performance management process (e.g. goal setting, annual reviews, development planning) to ensure utilization of tools by management to achieve business results.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations and reviews with Sr. VP & CHRO throughout the investigation.
  • Provides and coordinates training.
  • Answers routine requests for benefit information and policy interpretation.
  • Partners with Corporate Human Resources and managers in creating a positive employee relations environment through effective communications, policies, and practices.
  • Ensures program or section area is in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Partners with the Human Resource team to develop policies, programs, and tools to enhance organizational capability.
  • May participate in recruiting initiatives to include advertising, reviewing resumes, phones screens, reference checks, recommendation summary to managers, etc.
  • May prepare and maintain special internal and external reports as requested by his or her immediate supervisor.
  • Provides input to change management initiatives and communication within the Company. Supports organizational restructuring, under the direction of management.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars.
  • Support and alignment with Company Core Values; service, integrity, teamwork, trust and respect, accountability and profitability.

 


Requirements

Bachelor or Associate degree specializing in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, or other related field preferred.   PHR or SPHR also preferred.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of five to eight years of advanced human resources generalist support experience. Must have a minimum of five years employee relations and consulting experience. Must have practical Oregon laws experience. The position is located in Oregon.   

 

Must have strong problem solving and analysis skills, project management proficiency, ethical conduct, and must fully embrace customer service and HR’s role in serving and supporting the Company. Requires strong public speaking experience with the ability to impart critical information to all levels of the organization.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay information clearly and concisely. Must have excellent grammar, proofing, and editing skills. Knowledge of federal, state, and city laws and regulations.
