Temporary Human Resources Generalist - Senior Living - Burbank


This is a full-time TEMPORARY assignment. You will plan, direct and coordinate Human Resources Department activities for the community to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies, and regulatory compliance. Supervise, hire, and train Concierge staff. This is a fun and challenging position with variety and lots of interaction with management, employees, residents and guests.


Essential Duties:

  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies, and resolving work-related problems.
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotions and employee benefits.
  • Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems, safety and recreation programs.
  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, payroll, performance appraisals and employee benefits.
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Hire, train and supervise Concierge. Manage Concierge services to ensure customer satisfaction, prompt and high quality service.


Other Duties:

  • Ensure internal customer responsiveness by assisting staff in providing and coordinating services to residents, guests and families.
  • Actively communicate health and safety information to employees and participate in accident, injury and illness prevention activities.
  • Verify that job specific safety procedures are established.
  • Train employees in safe work practices.
  • Verify that routine inspections are conducted by trained personnel and include job task observations.
  • Conduct timely accident investigations.
  • Correct hazards and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
  • Communicate health and safety information to employees and facilitate their involvement in health and safety activities.
  • Verify the effective and timely training on health and safety activities.
  • Reinforce the use of good health and safety practices through positive recognition programs and disciplinary actions.
  • Complete health and safety audit finding closure within 30 days.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Concierge staff.


Requirements:

  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Human Resources experience.
  • PC skills with knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient reading, comprehension, writing, and mathematical ability.
  • Ability to deal with confidential information.
  • Initiative and problem solving skills.
  • Interest in working with a senior population.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.


Preferences:

  • More than 3 years of Human Resources experience.
  • College degree in Human Resources or a business related field.
  • Experience working with a senior population.
  • Experience working in a customer service environment.
  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of cultural diversity; understanding of an aging population.
  • Friendly, creative, cheerful, and approachable attitude.


Physical and mental requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 20 lbs., using proper body mechanics and/ or available equipment.
  • Ability to work 3 – 3.75 hours standing, walking and moving without the need to sit down.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as dictated by a 24/7 business operation.
